My daughter went from pretty sensitive nerves to super sensitive. Where even just running by her is a terrible thing. Anyone with similar experience?

Yes, I know this exactly. It is at its very worse when my son is painfully tired (of course would never admit it, perhaps he isnt aware of it). Before we went on our summer hols he was constantly inconsolable, on holiday when I discussed it with him he admitted, 'I didnt know what I was saying'. Of course I didnt do it in a judgemental way, no chastising, just objectively asking, 'was it really like that or did I imagine it.

I also read somewhere to wash with a detergent you use with newborns. My
7 yr old daughter is also clothes sensitive. That is the one issue that causes
the most stress in our family. Mornings spent in her room for 30 minutes
where she is supposed to get dressed only to run downstairs in her undies
crying that all of her clothes feel funny. I am going to try the newborn
detergent (like Dreft) and your advice (lots of softner & tumble dry for a
long time). As for the sneakers that she has to wear on gym days? I hope
her teacher understands, but we pack them and she has to put them on
before gym. I think she deals with the yucky feelings better with her friends
around because she is embarrassed to have a meltdown in front of them.
And as is always the case, if she leaves the stuff on for 5 or 10 minutes she
gets used to it. I've also heard OT helps with this problem.

Hi ,

My son used to be ultra-sensitive to touch and pain. We SOLVED it (yes, SOLVED) with a brushing therapy called DPPT, or also called Wilbarger Protocol. It's incredibly effective. Google it.

Read Sensational Kids by Lucy Jane Miller. You'll love it.

My son has also had a lot of success with the brushing therapy and occupational therapy.  He's been doing O.T. for about 2 years now and he's much less sensitive to things now-including touch, sound etc.

I also recommend the book "The Out-of-Sync Child".  It is good at explaining it all.
