Hi all,

Been awhile since I've visited...

New issue..ticks. She's been on Focalin XR for over a year...started getting ticks. She is constantly pulling at her face like there is a hair in her eye. dad took her to nurse praticioner yetserday and we altered her smaller doses...one in am 5mg and one at noon 5mg reg focalin...no am dosage...kept Focalin XR...still ticking. The nurse said that if they don't stop they will take her off of the stimulant completely! I am freaked out...that can not hapen. Bad things happen when she isn't medicated. (Servere Impulse control issues...and physical ADHD movements)

She's 8 almost 9...starting to get hair under her arms, and I am thinking...is it puberty? Could her body's needs be changing and possibly not needing the stimulants as much as she did? This has been a long road for us...she spent 2 weeks in the hospital at the end of the summer.

Any one else been told that no stimulants if ticks start? What else could they put her on to help her with the physicallity of the ADHD?

Hi,

I am new to this...but DS is on Tenex (Glanfacine generic).  The information we received indicated that it is often used with stimulants to reduce or eliminate ticks.  It is something to consider especially if your DD need stimulants.  Good luck!

I have had to pull my daughter off of meds because of tics and then issues with Tenex. 

We are still adjusting, and looking at natural alternatives.  Her grades fell, but seem to be re-adjusting.  She is so much happier and the Tenex was causing huge anger issues.  However, we are having some behavior and control issues in school.
