I had announced 6 months ago, that I had taken at least 7 different medications in order to get the symptoms of ADHD under control.  I had expressed my exuberance over the wonderful results I was experiencing taking 20 milligrams of Cymbolta.

Up until a month and a half ago, I was fine, until I went back to smoking pot, as a means to bring my acute hyperactivity under control.  After a while, I noticed that I was doing it everyday, after work, as a way of elleviating the day's stressfullness, and as an aid to falling asleep at night.  I was disappointed, because I had thought that Cymbolta was doing the job, and that I can look forward to worrying about other things, rather than gauging my brain all the time.

The good news is, is that I figured that my body had developed a tolerance to the dosage I was taking, so I went up to 30 mgs just yesterday.  I am feeling once again, the positive results that I had for the first six months, and I do not have any interest once again, in smoking pot at all.  I find it quite challenging to guage myself when this happens.  If I had known that my body was building a tolerance in only a half a year, I would have taken the higher dose earlier.  Thank God I was able to figure it out.  Pot is not cheap, and the side effects are a real waste.

Please be careful if you get off Cymbalta. It was an evil toxic drug for me and took a month to get off it. I felt mentally worse than ever in my life trying to get off that sucker. I have read about many who had this experience also.

Good luck.

Addbec,

Thanks for the heads up.  May I ask how you came to try Cymbalta, and what other types of meds you've tried before this drug.  As you know, not everyone's physiollogy is the same, not to mention spelling ability as can be seen by my choices.  As you may already know, there are supposedly six types of ADHD, as researched by Dr. Amen.  There are some people who can not handle aspirin, while you have "Rock Stars", like the Rolling stones, who can still party with the best of them into their golden years.  I think it's a matter of measuring the pros and cons of a drug, which one considers before making a commitment to a certain medication.  I have a girl friend who tried Cymbolta, who wanted nothing to do, but sleep.  I couldn't believe that she was getting drousy on this stuff.  With me, it has the opposite effect.  It's 12:30am, and I'm still behind my PC.

At least the focus issue is resolved with this drug, including the immense angst I was feeling before I started on this regimine.

I would be curious to know, what type of side effects you felt, before deciding that this medication was definitely not for you.

Thanks for you input.
