Kenneth A. Selzer, M.D., Executive Director, is a graduate of the UCLA School of Medicine and has done advanced training and research in the neurosciences at both Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN as well as the UCSD School of Medicine in San Diego. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry and has been actively involved with clinical care and research for over 25 years.

Jorge A. Zapatel, M.D., Director of Psychiatric Medicine, is Board Certified in Psychiatry and received his Medical Degree from Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico. He trained through the Department of Psychiatry of Harvard Medical School in both Adult and Child Psychiatry. Dr. Zapatel is our Pediatric and Adolescent Psychiatrist, with special interests in ADD/ADHD, mood disorders and multicultural psychiatry.

John R. Montague, Ph. D., Director of Adult Neuropsychology, is a UC Berkeley graduate, receiving Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Maine and his Post Doctoral Fellowship in Neuropsychology from UCSD. Dr. Montague specialized in adult therapy and is also available for couples therapy.

Joel E. Fick, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist, is a graduate of the California School of Professional Psychology, and brings to us a strong background is clinical studies, neuro-assessments and family therapy for children and adolescents.

Joan Luber Jacobs, M.A., M.S., is our Educational Specialist. Ms. Jacobs has over 30 years experience helping students and their families through identifying the optimal educational services and programs available at local schools. She is currently completing her book on how choosing the optimal college to attend.

Baird Brightman, M.S., Ph.D., Executive Coach for adolescents and adults, is available to assist those patients who need guidance in making optimal choices in their careers and home life. Formal assessment of workplace skills/strengths, teaching better organizational and time management skills along with career consultation are just some of the areas where Baird can assist.

Christy Hendrickson, M.D., Educational Therapist, has over 20 years of clinical experience and specialized training in educational therapy techniques. Working with our team of Neuropsychologists in identifying learning styles in both children and adults, she creates an individualized learning plan. She both remediates and supports reading (specializing in dyslexia), comprehension, spelling and math content areas.

Kristin Cremer, M.A., L.M.F.T., is a Marriage and Family Therapist. Ms. Cremer received a Master's Degree in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from USD. She has been counseling children, adolescents, adults and families since 1998. Her focus is assisting individuals and families in improving their relational functioning within their home, school/occupation, and social environments through therapy using Cognitive Behavior and Solution Focused/Strength Based therapies.

Emily Staats-Gates, M.A. is a Learning Specialist and Academic Tutor. Emily has an M.A. in Special Education-Learning Disabilities, a California Teaching Credential. Education specialist, and over 10 years experience teaching and tutoring. While working with clients one-on-one, she takes a strength based, multi-modal approach to learning and supplements academic assistance with remediation and advocacy development. In addition to Hallowell West, Emily also works part-time for a local education agency as a consultant, parent educator, teacher trainer, writer, and presenter.
