Why do I want a "proud to be ADHD" pin?
Because of the cool things, because of wanting to
celebrate the "mundane" achievments that make it
possible for me to do MORE of the creative things I
enjoy (more time for them).
And so parents with ADHD/ADD kids can feel
comfortable to talk about it with me, same for folks
who think they might have it, and, sure, for people
who think it "doesn't exist" - and then they see me
running around the park playing with bubbles
wearing fairy wings...
(I sell my art at festivals and outdoor shows - so lots
of kids hang out at my tent all day, and a few times
there has been a kid who clearly was "neuroatypical"
in some way, and also a really awesome kid. I wish
their parents could have felt okay to explain this, by
knowing I'm ADHD and able to understand a bit. It
makes a difference to be able to communicate in the
ways that are right for each person, when you can)So, I've been thinking about something for a while
(well, one of hundreds of things, of course)
I want a shirt, or a button or patch or something that
lets people know I'm not "normal" in that wacky
ADHD kind of way. I want to tell people how cool I
think the way I think is, even though lots of things are
frustrating. I want to be proud of all those "positive
things about ADHD," and of those supposedly small
things like learning to FINALLY be able to 60% of the
time show up places on time (one of the things I've
trained myself to do while on meds, that carries
over!)
Any ideas for slogans? Logos? Descriptors that
don't use the word "disorder" - or ways to use the
"negative" descriptions in a funky way?
I made one once that looks like a triangle, a
semicircle, a square and a semicircle in a row. I
never used it though.
Oh, and I don't think there needs to be a concensus,
diversity is GREAT. The main thing is, what do you
think would look cool and be recognisable?

When I was first diagnosed, I wanted to have a shirt
