You Know, We really are amazing people, we are caring and creative. I have noticed many of us are full of love and insight, and many talk about writing poetry. I thought it would be a neat idea if we had a little poem thread, as a peek into how special we really are, I know I would cherish it, Check in on it at times and see whats new, or reread some I found delightful. The Idea is simple, You post a poem, yours or maybe someone’s else’s that is published or you have permission to use, that is 30 lines or less that means allot to you. It's important that you do not have any other text other than the author at the bottom, like (Robert Frost) or (Me) and optional two or three lined footnote on why it means so much. I say this, because if we keep telling each other how good each others poems are, the thread will go off in the wrong direction. Also you might not understand someone else’s piece or work, and we don't want anyone to feel offended. It can be funny, sad, happy, whatever. The point is, it will hopefully put a smile on some faces, and make us realize we are not just sad excuses of forgetful humans but one of God's children who have been given and odd but beautiful gift. You can come in and edit your poem at any time, change it for another, but please only one poem per person. And as mentioned, you do not need to be a poet, only love poetry. Keep them clean though if you can, we may have younin's reading and it may be a bit over their head. Caution But please remember anything here can be taken, it is a work of art, so don't post things you can't loose. For me, there are things I am willing to share and take a chance on, if it will touch the heart of someone who needs the touch.
Love coats..
A Grandmothers love is a special thing, its Like a warm coat on a Winters day, It is stuffed with kindness to keep out The damp, and full of softness I Can say, It has big brass buttons to keep it closed, And a fine silken lining woven on The finest loom, It fits in any closet that you can have, It doesn’t take up much Room, But when you need it, its always there, Just beyond your fingers touch, And they will help put it upon your shoulders, When things have become Just too much, Grandmothers eventually go to heaven, But they are kind enough to leave The coat behind, They’re sitting in our closets for us all, Whenever its warmth in life we need to find.
(ME)
In Loving memory of the greatest grandmother that ever lived for this little boy, a poem I wrote to say goodbye. |
