Teachers with ADHD | ADHD Information

Share
I am a 2nd grade teacher in Santa Ana CA. teacher, father of three being treated for depresion on Paxil and wellbutrin. Psyc thought I may have shown some ADD tendences in a story about my high school days.
My main question is Are there any teachers who have ADHD that I can talk to in forum or email or even phone.
Please help I am getting my anger and short temper back and I am not doing well. Dear Scott,
I am married to a teacher with add and have twin boys who are 18 with add.  Life can be a challenge.  The one thing that I really know is that organization is very helpful and gets them through the day.  They don't feel anger as much as they feel frustration when they are not doing as well as they want.  Most of the time, I remind my husband to finish his tasks one at a time and we laugh.  My usual line is your add is showing.  But we have been married for 23 years and have been best friends since high school so what works for us may not help you.  Just keep on trying and working on your problem and you will succeed.

Dear Scott,

I'm only 26, but I've been teaching for a couple of years here in Australia (grades 7 -12). About 3 months ago, I came extremely close to losing the plot altogether - I could not deal with anything; routine, expectations, superiors, programming, even so much as making myself a cup of coffee. I went to see a doctor, was told that I most probably had Generalised Anxiety Disorder,  was put on Aropax (Australian trade name for Paxil), moved 3,500 kilometres across the country to be with my mother and brother (and familiar surrounds), and to get the hell out of the teaching profession. About a month ago, my psychiatrist diagnosed me with ADD - this put so much in perspective. I've been on Ritalin for close to a month now, and the difference it is making is phenomenal. Also, do your research on Paxil - ask several doctors and pharmacists what they think, because it is recognised as being the most difficult SSRI to come off (quitpaxil and paxilfree are two informative websites, although you have to ignore the ranting and raving and form your own opinions. I've had one psychiatrist tell me that they believe it is a terrible drug . Not to be depressing, but it needs to be gradually weaned from the system.  Good luck with everything, brother! (PS: teaching is bloody hard work, especially when you're not feeling too crash hot!) By all means, feel free to contact me.

First and formost, drop the anger.........that can only be destructive to U and anyone around U..... If U feel anger, STOP and drop what ever U R doing...... do something else.  if U R having a problem with some student and they R driving U nuts STOP and move on to something else and come back when U R feeling better...........

I was put on Paxil and Welbuterin (spelling)...It made me ill..... The Paxil also = Yuck... I do NOT like medication.....Only take Aspirin.  U somehow need to chill out, and NOT take life so seriously....Put your problems on Jesus, let him have all of them, ask him for help..... HE WILL HELP U...... I am not nuts saying this...it is true.

I use to live in Santa Anna in 1964 and 5...... Went to Willard school I think??. Live in Tx now (retired US Miltary.)  So get your head into something else and chill out the best way U can......... drink 3 buds........ get with good friends, take your wife out and have a good time......do something different that does NOT cost $$$$$$$$$$ park, hiking go to Lake Arrowhead or Big Bear..... Go to Mojave Desert and explore, chase and catch lizzards (let them go after though (LOL)

Good luck
