Hey--
I am on Adderall and am experiencing something new today.....I am alert but not feeling motivated today...most of the time after taking my meds I am non-stop all day, but not today. Why? I woke up with a stomach ache and feel bad from that . Does that have anything to do with my Adderall? It shouldn't!
Just wordering if this happens to anyone else...Thanks! upwardbound
Sorry...I am taking XL 20mg/day. The doc wants to move me up to 40MG b/c mine seems to wear off around 2 or 3 in the p.m. (sometimes and sometimes not) but I am scared to take that much....I am 5ft and 105 pounds...the doc says for an adult that is not too much, but who knows. I did notice last week when I ate breakfast I didn't have any side effects, so I think it does help to eat before you take it. I did not do that this norning and I am paying for it now.
Sorry if I am rambling today. Have you ever heard of one pill being more effective than the other? As for this weekend, I was the same way as you, layed around all day and did not to much of anything...what in the world is wrong with me?
Thanks for replying back. upwardbound
You diden't mention wether you are taking adderall or adderal XL. I'm taking plain adderall. 20mg, 3 times a day. For the first 2 weeks or so, I seem to be as good as can be expected, but sometimes after that I feel unmotivated. Only once sick. I'm currantly taking generic because thats all I can afford. after reading other postings, I though it was kind of a high dosage for someone who is only 5'3 & 110 pounds. I think because of "self medicating" when I was younger to feel somewhat normal, a lower dose woulden't work. Now I feel pretty good, but over the weekend, I had a couple of days of feeling sooo unmovated I diden't feel like doing anything. I was alert, but my body said "just let me do absultly nothing". Really frustrating! as for the stomach ache, did you eat first? They say you don't have to, but I do. You'er not alone.Hi upward_bound, no need to appoligize. I had asked about adderall XL at my last doc visit. She said i would probably be better off with the regular adderall. My system dosen't do well with the "once in the morning dose thing" The advantage to the regular is that you can space your doses out so when you feel that it's wearing off, you can take another one.
For me, taking just 20mg. a day just woulden't do it. But as i said before, after 2 weeks or so, sometimes i feel just plain lazy! I think in my case, i build up a tolerence, than my mind has to tell my body" this is what you have to deal with, so please work! I still can't believe i'm on such a high dosage! But like i said before, i wasn't a "GOOD GIRL" in my teens or late 20's for that matter. Good luck & let me know what you go with. You thought you were rambling? I could go on forever!
Good Morning! Today seems to be a little better than yesterday. I ate a good breakfast and then took my meds, hopefully that will help my headaches. The doc wants to move me up to 40mg 2x's a day b/c the meds seem to wear off in the p.m. but I am afraid to do that...it may be too much! I am only 5ft and 105 pds. Thanks for replying...I will let you know what I choose when I see the doctor next.
Aother subject, if you don't mind me asking are you married or have a significant other? I am having concerns with my hubby not being very supportive...when I mention ADD in any way, he changes the subject real quick. I understand that not many people will be supportative, but my hubby.........have a similar experience, if so, how did you handle it w/o blowing up?
Good almost afternoon! WOW that is more adderall than i'm taking! Maybe what i'm taking might be right for you. Only your mind & body will know.
I am married, and my hubby is somewhat supportive, but it took a while for him to realize that add is a real disorder and not something that we just "made up to cover our mistakes" It's kinda funny because he can't remember ADD, oh no, he called it DNA.
LOL! His problem is comprehending how someone can graduate with honors in billing & coding and still have have problems with #'s! I have dyslexia, but coding that involves 5 #'s and sometimes a modifier, i can handle that. He also can't figure out why i have a hard time with billing. DAH.... MATH! thats why.I was a good coder(health ins.) but when 911 hit, us coders we're making good money. We we're all let go. Now you start as a biller, multi-tasking. I was fired from 3 billing jobs because i just couldn't handle all that stuff. and the math, we won't even go there! Now thats when he blows up. HE just dosn't get it. Meds can only do so much. I just tell him to deal with it! I know he loves me, but he dosn't always understand. My husband read Driven to Distraction. It's an execellent book. Maybe your hubby would be willing to discuss it further. Good luck and i know what your going through.
Wow....you and I seem to be so much alike. It took me 8 yrs to get an associates and BS degree and I graduated with a 3.7 cumulative, but I think thats b/c I was paying for it and not anyone else...LOL
I have been wanting to get that book, but as usual have been putting it off b/c I hate to read. Maybe we can read it together. All this is new to me so I am not sure if its a real issue or am I just more sensetive to things now!
Thanks for the advice....write back if you can. I posted another topic on relationship issues...fill free to read that...maybe you can relate to that also.
Ok since you said pretty please I will read it! I honestly think I may have deslexia....I mix up words in converstion and I mix up #'s ALL the time. I transpose letters when I write and type frequntly! I don't see things backward or read backwards, but often times I start to read a senternce at the beginning and I automatically go to the end and start reading that??? What is that? Or I will want to start in the middle of a senternce and read!
I can't read fast at all and when I read outloud it makes no sense because I mix the words up. What are signs of deslexia?
Sorry you had a bad day...hope today is better for you!
Hi! We do seen alot alike! Except i LOVE to read. Even though I have dyslexia. I think it began as a challange in grade school. Even now, i sometimes have to read something 2 to 3 times before it makes sence. the faster i read the less i have trouble. seems backwards dosn't it? But thats dyslexia for you! Do you have that at all?
Even though you hate to read, please, please pretty please, read Driven to Distraction. It will help you both. Also in a magazine called Womans World, they had a story about a mother and daughter with ADD. That shows more people are willing to except it as a real problem
I want to read your other postings, but i probably won't write anything until tomorrow. I just got home from "hell"and I'm realllly tired. write back if you can.take care
HI! I'm glad your gonna read the book. It will really put things in prospective for both you & your hubby.
Now, the dyslexia. You probably do have it from what your discribing. My Doc told me about the getting words mixed up in converation is very common. I have that big time & it can be so frustrating! I can be talking to even a family member, not say what i want to say, and someone else will cut me out. Than i just shut up.It hurts!
Like I said ,i can read fast, but when i have to read in front of people, like 3 yrs ago in class, i stumble all over the place! I don't have the problem of starting a sentence & going to the end. As i said in another message, i have problems with knowing what is N.S.E.& W. What about you?
Thanks, today was better for me. and your posting about the cups....mine are starting to pile up AGAIN! Have a good night.
