I had a decrease of libido and ability to perform on dexedrine sulfate - for about a month. It came back no trouble at all! As a matter of fact - with the new feelings of vigor and happiness I have there's been an increase! I feel like I'm 18 in many ways (including sexually). Don't know how long this phase will last - but I can tell you just feeling alive and aware makes one feel very sexual and active.
I"m not taking Adderall, but Concerta instead. Been taking it for about two weeks now and the first thing I noticed was and increase in sexual desire. Not an alarming increase, normal for most I guess but and increase for me. One of the reasons I started going to a counselor was because after years of a very low sex drive it was causing problems in my marraige. It's not that I didnt' enjoy sex, but I was too tired, and also during sex my mind would be fifty different places at once. We'd be making love and I'm going over the grocery list in my head, or what bills need to be paid, or what I forgot to do today that I need to do tomorrow. I believe that I can attribute my increased desire to just being "normal" now. I'm not so preoccupied with things that I didn't get done, or worried about what I need to do that I can relax and if the mood strikes there aren't a hundred different ideas floating through my head so I go for it. I used to hate morning sex, but since taking the meds we've found that is the best time of all.
To the woman who has a very increased desire and considering an affair, it sounds to me like you might be experiecing some kind of manic episode. Perhaps because of too high a dose? If you read the symptoms of a manic episode they explain a huge increase in sexual desire to the point that the consiquences of getting that sex don't matter. Might be something to look into.
Well the good thing is that sexual side effects with dexedrine/dexedrine salts tends to go away within a couple weeks to months of taking it. I was too shocked and confused when I started dexedrine to find a healthy (very strong actually) libido and performance go down to zero. It was akin to being castrated for me - felt nothing for any female or even self-pleasure. I actually can credit that to helping me break up with my ex after 13 years of yo-yoing. So I can thank it very much!
I told my MD about it after a week of wondering why. He said it's very common with dexedrine and that although some don't come back from it (blood flow it appears is interfered with in some people sometimes) but most do fine. Sure enough - I came back from it 110 percent - actually now being as libidinous as when I was 20. Now I just need a woman to share it with! LOL!!!
My MD prescribed me viagra - just in case. I tried some during my down time - but found the side effects (color shifts - eye illusions - nasal pressure, etc.) to be overly distracting. But he said with viagra and attempting to work past the apathy it works fine in most cases. I'm sure it does.
So unless you are being under/over sexual for more than say a month - don't fret too much. Chances are it will pass all on its own. It's always the best with libido shift and erectile trouble to talk to your MD right away.
Hmmm....well, I can relate to certain aspects of these posts, some are completely foreign to me. I take adderall and adderall xr (I've taken them for a few years) and have noticed that my libido has remained heightened since I started taking it.
However, I think that it's more due to the fact that I can actually focus, etc. while being intimate rather than due to euphoric "side effects."
davidornado- just think about autoerotic asphyxiation and you'll get your answer to sexual suicide!
