So proud

My 10 year old ADHD unmedicated son and I wanted to see a movie today called March of The Penguins. The local paper said the movie started at 1:40. We arrive at the theatre at 1:25pm only to find out that the movie began at 1pm. So I asked the guy who worked there if Red Eye would be suitable for him. I had never heard of it. He said it was fine. So we bought tickets for Red Eye. This turned out to be a very unsuitable movie for a 10 year old never mind an ADHDer. They were swearing a blue streak and it was violent. My son informed me that he was scared in a whispered voice and covered his eyes. He didn't leave or shout! I was soo happy and proud of him for that!! I was mad and sent him to the bathroom. Then I went and told the ticket lady that my son was scared and the movie was too violent for him. I mentioned that the guy had reccomended the movie also. Another guy gave us free movie passes and the guy who reccomended the movie apologised several times. He should have been kissing butt and he was. He said that quite a few parents had taken their 10 year old children to see this movie and he was glad to see a parent who cared what their child saw.

You have every reason to be proud of your son and yourself! You both handled the situation well.

Yes.  A similar situation happened to me and my family when we went to see the new "Bad News Bears" movie this summer.  All of that cussing and drinking, etc.  We saw approx 25min of the movie, (kept thinking it would get better-but it only got worse) and then my hubby went and told the people that we were not impressed with the movie and we obtained free passes to "Sky High."  -no questions asked.

Good for you....I wish there were more appropriate family moves out there.

I guess the movie theatres cater more towards teenagers out on dates, parents out for a night, and seniors than families. It's very sad. There are not many family,G rated movies or documentaries out there. There should be more.
