Since my reaction to concerta was mediocre and we kept having to increase the dosage to keep that "mediocre" effect, my doc decided to switch my meds.
Since Adderall got back into the market very very recently, he prescribed it to me. Now it's the weekend and I can't contact him to get some help on this issue...
no freaking pharmacy carries it and none WANT to order the lower dosages that Id take to begin my way up. They cant order less than 100 per dosage, and since none of their patients take adderall, they won't order low dosages just for me.
Sooooo Im stuck here, I was suggested to ask my doc for samples for my lower dosages, but I wonder if he even got samples yet.
Are there special places in Canada that carry EVERYTHING.. like where the hell do pharmacies get their stuff?
HAHA i WAS JUST KIDDINGya well by tuesday Ill contact my doc, considering he probably isnt aware of the distribution problem since it JUST came back on the market.
We got McDonald research farms here too, though I never saw them be a pharmacy.
I know, just shows you..I was forced to go to McDonald's Pharm and I'm happy cause they are smart and nice, lots of them to help you and they have given me a head's up on other stuff. I mean, everything purchasable in life has a distribution deal somewhere along the line.I live in Montreal, so it I'm not in a secluded region at all.
The problem is, pharmacies can not order less than 100 pills at the time. Meaning a huge bottle containing 100 pills of Adderall.
Since my prescription says I need 3x 10mg, 7x20mg and 20x30mg, they would have to order 100x10mg and 100x20mg only to supply me with 3 and 7 pills.
Thus they don't want to have to pay for 100 when Ill only need 3 and 7. For the 30mg pills, they dont have a problem because my prescription says Ill use 30mg for 5 months, so they'd use up their whole bottle of 30mg anyways.
oh, so let's see if I understand, they would order the 30mg cause it would be 5 months worth and that is over a min order for them whereas the other amounts are so small?
I live on the island itself, in the west. Though I think I have an idea of what kind of pharmacy you are talking about. Hmmmm I didnt know those pharmacies were more specialized, I just assumed they had canes and stuff like that because it was built right next to a general hospital.
oh, I know about the McDonald u, I grew up in M, and good luck! I'm taking 15 a day and I tried a 10 later on one day but sleep probs. I will try 20 one morning but the lower a does I'm on the better! I'm behaving differently so what a relief!well I wasnt talking about McDonald fast food, there is such a thing as McDonald university based in chemistry research for farming, which is unrelated to the food chain :p
Anyways, my doc called a pharmacy that he deals with in his region and made them ship the stuff to me.
Now im on speed, but... little dosage for now,so let's pray for results when i hit 30mg.
Hi. I am doing some research on ADHD. I am 99.99% my son has ADHD and we have an appointment in a couple of weeks to determine for sure. I have a friend who has 2 sons, both ADHD - one takes Adderal and the other takes Concerta (sp?). She says they both work great and Concerta even has no side effects. I'm noticing a lot of you are saying that Concerta doesn't work for you, and I've read that Adderal is "back on the market". What does that mean? When was it taken off and why? Was this only in Canada or the US as well? Also, my son (who is 9) already has problems sleeping --- can I expect this to be worse or get better with medication? If any of you can give me your thoughts or information, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!Concerta worked, for a short period of time. It varies from people, certain dont react at all, some react well, and in my case, react, but tolerate it very quickly.
AFAIK, im at 20mg now, and I felt the huge kick in "productivity", but I dont know if it will hold longer than concerta.
Insomnia wise, it does make it a bit worse, but it will vary, sometimes, it seems a lot easier to fall asleep, sometimes, it feels like you are far from over with your day. So, ask for sleep meds prescription as well.
It was taken off the market in Canada because there were several reports of sudden deaths caused by heart failures in america, from adderall users. the USA never banned it, but canada did. Only recently did the canadian health regulation admitted that the ban was uncalled for and adderall wasn't necessarely to blame for the deaths, considering the autopsys showed that the dead patients had heart complications before adderall.
amen, just politics. I also hope the Adderall keeps working. I'm not having problems sleeping but you have to take it early enough in the day. I noticed dry mouth when I first took it, that was it. When I took the Concerta felt nothing but my doc is a low doser.
Everyone is different when it comes to meds. Good luck with your son,
something that bothers me...I never read anything about the internal
anguish and despair and all the other pysch aspects of adhd in kids,
not in all the medical stuff anyway...
Thank you both for your responses - especially the comment about Adderall and heart conditions. My son was born with a heart defect, so this is the main reason why I've been reluctant to put him on any medication. Up until recently he has been pretty manageable, but I'm seeing more symptoms lately. He's actually not too hyper, but definitely cannot focus and it's starting to affect his school work. Everyone is telling me I need to do something before he becomes a teenager because then it will only be worse. Thanks.
