PYCNOGENOL & "NATURAL" REMEDIES? | ADHD Information

Has anyone heard about this "natural" remedy for ADD?

Here's a blurb about PYCNOGENOL:

How Pycnogenol Works: Some Science

Pycnogenol is the trademarked name of a complex of flavonoids derived from the bark of the French maritime pine tree. It is a powerful antioxidant. Pycnogenol's effect on ADD symptoms is related to its ability to cross the brain's blood barrier, something that few substances can do. It appears that the increased circulation, improved capillary health, and the reduction of free radicals all combine to increase the duration and effectiveness of the brain's existing neurotransmitters. Pycnogenol does not increase production of neurotransmitters, which is the strategy of stimulants such as Ritalin. Pycnogenol also dampens the allergic histamine response, which may be a factor in ADD for some, probably including my family. In that regard, I have seen it work amazingly, normalizing a developing allergic reaction to cat dander in just ten minutes. It is water soluble and does not have any known side effects (although do remember that my son manifested a tic, noted above), even at a tested dosage of 30,000 mgs per day for six months.

Anyone have any luck w/this or any other Homeopathis remedies(herb, vitamins, etc.)???

Iamkimsmom,

I have been trying it for about a week and a half & it's been OK...Not a SUPER DUPER difference, but I do notice some added Clarity...Maybe I need to increase my dosage...You may want to check out the different brands out there...I take the PYC made by Twin Labs...Maybe there is something more Potent...All I can say is do the research & try for yourself...I just have to try things myself & see how they work...If I can be of any more help, let me know...Also you may want to look into GRAPE SEED EXTRACTS...Also noted to help w/ADD...

breedlowe...I had asked about it on the "alternative" board, but nobody responded.  I first heard about pycnogenol during the 90's, where I went to an informational forum on "alternatives" to stimulants. Recently, I came across an article where it was mentioned, which sparked my memory of where I first heard of it!

I purchased it, but have not used it yet.  Have you seen any good results using it?  Does it have any interactions with any meds? I'd be interested to talk with you about it.
