Alcohol and Adderall | ADHD Information

One thing is the depressant effect of alcohol, which carries over to the next day because of increased GABA activity and may interfere with your AXR. Another is that alcohol increases production of stomach acid, which decreases absorption of the medicine.

The interesting thing is that alcohol also has some NMDA inhibiting ability, and this usually results in increased sensitivity to Adderall. The problem is with timing though. The NMDA antagonism will have worn off by the next day when you take your AXR.

Essentially the day after a night of drinking is going to be a scattered day. Don't put off school work til Sunday if you're going out Sat night for drinks. One possible way to help is drink alka-seltzer (w/o aspirin) with your medicine the day after. A bit of ordinary baking soda helps some too if you don't have the a-s. Also put off taking the med as long as you can for the day. Or, you could pass on the alcohol and drink water or soda, but you'd get some beef from the peeps.

haha, interesting... I also notice if I take a Tylenol Pm or something of that sort, The day after is kind of the same. This being said, Tylenol Pm has sleep aid in it and this is probably why.Hi, I am in college and yes I drink. I have noticed if i go out and drink, the next day my AdderallXr doesn't work Hardly at all. Anyone know why this is?? I won't be drinking on the week days, but I was just curious why this is??????
