Sadly, there are parents like her around. You are not alone. Are you old enough to get help for yourself now?

My fourth grade teacher guessed that I had ADD, and told my mom in a parent teacher conference that I should get tested for the disorder. My mother is a complete dumbass. She was frightened for some reason that could have ADD, even though she knew nothing about it. She just hoped I didn't have it, and if I did, I might just grow out of it or something, and my ADD could just go away.
Seventh grade rolled around, and I was really struggling academically. My grades were horrible. As hard as I tried, nothing I ever did was organized-my room, my notebook, my backpack, my papers, etc. My mother immediately hired a tutor. After a few months of getting tutored, she also guessed that I might have ADD. She called my parents and reccomended a Dr. My parents were really pissed off.
Ahhh!! I'm going through the same thing right now. My mom thinks I'm perfectly fine. People tell me all the time I must have adhd and theres gotta be something wrong. I suffer from major symptons.
I'm in 10th grade and i started to notice i had it really bad in 7th grade... my mom just thinks im making it up.
[>.<] parents are gay
ok giving my age here,,,lol,,,but in my days,,,they knew nothing of adhd or add,,,or bi-polar,,,which i have,,,(bipolar),,,,they just called it being lazy,,,my folks,,,,but now that i have special needy grandkids,,,my mom is learning alot and of course tells others in her town what i am learning so that they may know,,,,so keep on teaching others,,,it helpsI know the feeling. If you go to a public school, you probably have access to a school social worker or psychologist. Go see them, get the diagnosis (whatever it may be) and confront your parents.
I can understand why you're parents would seem upset. Just tell them it's not their fault. What's really going on (although scientists are still scratching their heads for most of this) your brain is made to receive more stimulation! How I look at it is, my brain just has more room for stuff than other peopls (a little stretching of the truth, but whatever gets you through the day)...
On a sidenote: Ever since ancient times in India, people with ADD (of course that's not what they call it) were viewed as a person on their last life. Meaning: they were one step away from achieving nirvana, and they wished to experience as many feelings as they could, hence the lack of attention! Just think, in your next life you'll have achieved nirvana!
Some just believe this doesn't exist either.sometimes it is hard for parents to except anything of,,should i say,,,something wrong with their child,,,my daughter who is a drug addict,,will not except that while she was carrying them that it had anything to do with what they are going thru now,,,so some people may think not my side of the family,,,no one can know about this,,,omg,,,,will we catch it,,,,and just the fear or negative of what it is,,,,,can we blame them,,,,no,,,,but we can inform people so they may know more of how it hurts our children,,,and how they can help
