My 7 year old has just been prescribed Clonidine too. I gave him 2 doses today, he was very sleepy by the end of the day, I didn't notice any change in his behaviour, but I guess I need to be patient.
We have tried other meds and have had some scary side effects. I have been up all night worrying about him.
I am interested to hear from others too.
AS an adult on clonidine, all it does is slow you down and tire you so your not as aggressive since the arteries cannot constrict as easily and it takes longer to get mad. My kid is very sleepy. Today was his first day with 3 doses. HeI've taken heaps of clonidine.... It enhances the effects of methadone / morphine / heroin / valium / other benzos nicely. On its own if you take a heap of it you get quite "noddy" can hallucinate etc
Its really meant for blood pressure, my doctor seems to think it takes away the craving for other drugs but I'm not sure how she figures that.
I guess thats not really what you were looking to hear tho.
HI MY 3 YR OLD WAS ON CLONIDINE FOR A MONTH AND IT MADE HIM VERY SLEEPY AND THE BEHAVIOR WAS WORSE.THE DR. TOLD ME TO GIVE IT TO HIM 1 HR BEFORE HIS BEDTIME BUT HE WOULD FALL ASLEEP IN 5 MINUTES OF TAKING IT ALSO HE STARTED BEING VERY ANGRY AND MEAN.

Hi - my son takes clonidine along with Focalin XR. I give him the pill about an hour before I want him to go to sleep. He does fight it - some - but he does usually drop off and get a good night's sleep. Without the clonidine he would be awake until the wee hours of the morning. So I think it works fine for us -
