Please help!!! | ADHD Information

ok. this is probably really irresponsible of me to say & i'll probably be
kicked off this message board...but have you just tried taking two 20mg
add xr's together?

at least then you would know whether or not an increase in dosage would
help. my pdoc had me on 40 mg. of add xr (it made me cry alot). maybe
a switch to ritalin or strattera???

if your doctor( or his/her office) doesnt get back to you the same day, you
really need to get a new doctor. i find that to be inexcusable. you should
at least be able to leave a message with a nurse...ok i'm getting off my
soapbox now....

anneI am new to this site...I am a female college student who was diagnosed with ADHD (inattentive type) 2 years ago. When I was first diagnosed, they put me on Adderall XR 20 mg, and it was absolutely wonderful (although I seem to notice that the medicine was not too effective at night starting around 8pm even though I took the medicine around 10am). BUT, recently, the medicine has stopped working! I can't seem to concentrate, focus, or do anything...I'm really concerned...any advice? I tried to call the doctor but haven't been able to get in touch with her forever! Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what helped you? Please help me!!!

Sometimes our bodies get used to the drug and the dosage has to be upped or you need to take a break from that med and take another for awhile or just take a break altogether.  Another post said her doctor suggested a 72 hour break from the meds when you don't have to much to do to give your body a break.  Another post said the doctor had them switching meds every other month to keep the body from getting to used to one or the other.  I would continue to try to get ahold of your physician or seek advice from a different doctor if you can't get ahold of yours. 

Taking a break might me the answer.

I take Adderall XL 20mg, and I have experienced the same thing this week.  This is the second day I have not taken it...I will take it tomorrow morning and see if I can get off my duff then.

I actually did take a break for about 2 weeks first and then 2 weeks after that, I took a week break from the medicine. Still no help...
