As I was reading, all of my my questions had answers and It made me realize how uneducated I was to the condition..
Hello everyone I'm new here. I am 28 years old and have been diagnosed but untreated for a year. Now I am doing everything I can to re learn what I missed.
I like "Healing ADD" by Dr. Daniel Amen. It was enlightening, educational and he presents physical evidance that ADHD is a neurological disorder. He also gives some alternatives to medication, like an Atkins-style diet and the use of scents like Lavendar to balance you.

i loved the book 'attention deficit disorder/ a different perception' by hartmann. don't know how widely accepted it is but i certainly not only appreciated its TITLE but i loved his 'different perception' it works on two levels his theory is different and we adhd'ers percieve differently. the main premise: we are not an aberration..we are actually a natural variety of human..lol. we are the HUNTERS our traits would of been excellent in hunter gatherer days..ill suited for the main shift in human society into a farm mind set..the agricultural shift that eventually wiped out the culture and hunter gatherer type life out completely. so most of the ppl in the world today are the 'farmers' slow..plodding able to complete tasks. methodical. seeds needed to be tended to and cultured meticulously for life to be sustainable... we are the hunters! we seek we have energy spurts..we focus singularly on our prey why even though we only comprise such a small percentage of total population are we still actually a HUGE number of ppl? why would this malajustment be so succesful to pass on for generations? to allow us to reproduce succesfully ..b/c we were the originals. i dunno. its a romantic idea. tell me if you like. in the meanwhile. don't beat yourself up. keep your chin high. WE WERE THE ORIGINALS! THE HUNTERS! when you go to the gym. scoff at the slow farmer ppl. LOL |

Just so you know, if you go to the message boards homepage, there is a new forum designed specifically for the express purpose of posting names of books, articles, magazines, even various websites that others have found helpful in dealing with all these adhd/add issues!
So, if you have a book, have read an article, logged on to a website that you wished you could let everyone know about so that it could maybe help someone else, now you have a special place to share that info with us all!
