my daughter hoards food!

Not too long ago I moved my 2nd daughter into a larger bedroom and found what looked like an entire bag of Hershey Kiss wrappers under the head of her bed! Later I found empty peep boxes stashed away in her storage bins. When she was little she use to stash pennies in socks, we found about 10 socks FULL of pennies a few years ago...was good for coin star, however..the candy wrappers didn't pay off that good

I wish you luck....

I have a granddaughter like that,,,i went and told the doctor and they told me that it is part of adhd and bipolar,,,,but when she was taking zybrexa,,,it was bad,,,it is like the thing in your head that say i am full was shut off,,,she gained 50 lbs in 4 months,,,so don't give your child that when they have an eating problem,,,,she has lost the wait,,,but still find things in hiding,,,lol,,,,,
oh an evil drug - it should be banned!!!  golly gosh, i would weigh a tonne if my 'i'm full' trigger was switched off.. I'm baaaack...it's been one of those mornings!  Yes, my son hoardes food and lots of other things.  He's a pig about it, too!  He eats whatever it is, then throws the wrappings (bag from popcorn, candy wrappers, etc.) into his toy boxes.  When I clean them out it's amazing how much trash is in there.  He's almost ten and he has ALWAYS hoarded food.  I find it stuffed in his pockets, under the sofa, etc.  Of course, it's never anything that's good for him.  He's just right in weight, but the junk he eats is astounding.  At one point he was getting up in the night and getting things like Poptarts and eating them in bed.  When he got up in the morning there was squashed Poptarts and crumbs all over his bedding.  SO, I put a new door knob on the pantry and locked it with a key.  I hid the key in my bedroom.  He found out where the key was and sneaked into my room at night and got the key.  THEN I started sleeping with the key under my pillow!  With time, it has gotten a little better, but not much.  I wish I had answers, but try locking up the food...that will be a beginning!  It's horrible to have to hide food from your children, but my son would eat so much junk that he'd never eat a good meal!

Isn't food hoarding a manifestation of obsessive-compulsive disorder?

My SD used to hoard candy and junk food, even a gallon of milk. She would hide it under her bed. She only did it at her mothers. Her mother had to throw out all the junk food. When her only option is healthy, she hasn't done it. LOL

sheri!!  i'm too much of a chocaholic to rid the house of it .. dh blames me, says i should be setting a better example.. how dare he use such logic!!

not necessarily - dd thinks my that hubby and i eat all the chocolate so she stashes it.. its true though, we do eat it all!!

just annoying that she lies about it!!

That's when you need to come up with the secret compartments in your underwear drawer!

DH is a chocolate freak, too. She just knows that it would be the last chocolate she ever ate if she did that here. LOL She gets away with alot of things at her mother's. It is the opposite here--poor thing.

ah sheri, think of the dental bills you are saving!!  HAHAHA! I sure hope so. SD hasn't had any, yet. DH has HORRIBLE teeth, and he takes very good care of them. Hopefully, she has her mother's teeth.is that the mother's only saving grace??my darling daughter has been stashing food, mainly chocolate, in her room.. she stashes them in her underwear, in her socks, everywhere that i wouldn't think of looking.. she has even made secret compartments in her drawers...
seriously there are kilos of chocolate stashed!! i'm not impressed at all!!

my goodness, she is only 10!! whats going to happen when she is older - its so distressing to even think about it..
My son still does that. We find pop cans, candy wrappers, etc.....He asked us for x-mas a mini refrigator..... yeah me too, i'm surprized i haven't found any bugs or mice. Thank god for that.  Same here also. I think it's done cause that way can eat when hungry. We just bought clothes for our son and am guessing won't last long it seems is hitting a growth spirt. Both of our kids eat non stop. This also my guess is cause kids actually need more than us adults do also. As a kid I ate 5 helpings every meal. Still gained little weight. I gained most my weight at 30's. Mornings are unbelievably hard around here, but I'll be back when I get my gfg to school.  He hoardes food and everything else....always has.  I'm surprised we don't have rats or roaches.
