I can start a new topic- but let me read this book first and see which one I think is better.
We do have what we call 'dare to be different night' every Wednesday night. He rarely says he actually likes something new. I don't expect him to like everything, just a bit more than spaghetti and ketchup. Trying the low sugar brand is a good idea.
Krobb - would you like to start a new topic about this book? just use the title as the subject and make sure to list the author in the first post ;)
as for dealing with picky eaters... I am lucky to have a son who is not terribly picky but there are things he doesnt like ;) we are ok with ketchup on things he doesnt like too much but have switched to a low sugar brand - just put it into a unlabled bottle and he will likely not know the difference! or mix it half and half for a while!
to get him to try new things we often just ask him to try one bite. Heck - we adults dont like everything either! If peas and beans are the only veggies he will eat let him eat them every night - he will either be happy eating his 2 veggies or he will get bored and want to try something new maybe...
just a few thougths!
I haven't read this book specifically, although I am currently reading "The ADD Nutrition Solution" by Marcia Zimmerman. It's is supposedly a 30 day drug free plan. I'm currently stuck on the several pages of recommended supplements. I definately want to improve my sons nutrition, but I don't want him going from 1 concerta pill every day to dozens of supplements.
I'll pick this one up at the library and see if it is similar or not.
One thing that none of the books I've read so far has addressed: By the time our kids are past high chair years (mine is 11), how do we deal with the "You don't want me to eat THAT do you?" stuff? My son is very picky and will choose just go without rather than trying to eat a piece of chicken without a bunch of ketchup.
