New, dont know what to do. | ADHD Information
I'm not new to having adhd, but I'm new to knowing it's what's wrong with me. I hope that makes sense. I know I'm adhd, and I've been going through depression my entire life which I believe masked the adhd at certain points, because I thought my symptoms were that of depression. I can't concentrate at work and I can only concentrate on certain things, basically, things I really like. Why is that? I'm on strattera, but I don't feel like it's working that well. At first it seemed to really help but now that I've been on it for a while, I feel it isn't helping me anymore. Help please.PS - I went to my doctor after finding out my daughter had it, he evaluated me and gave me strattera.I was on strattera, and my dr. told me it would take up to two weeks
for me to start to see an effect, and a month for the total effect.
Unfortunatly the drug and I didn't vibe and I discontined it after a
week and a half. How long have you been on it and at what mg?
Welcome!
For a start - strattera isn't always the best choice but wussy doctors put people on it because it's not a restricted med. Amphetamines work best - that's just the fact of it. If you don't have addiction problems I'd ask your MD or a psychiatrist to try you on either ritalin or dexedrine. Both work pretty good at least short term. I'm on dexedrine and has been working awesome for almost 11 months now!!
As for depression - well it's kind of like that saying "just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you". Meaning that you might be depressed because things suck in your life? Antidepressents are really for depression with no good root. Better to get your ADHD in control. I bet you that the depression will disappear when you get your head back on tight. It did for me!!
Good luck to you - and remember that the doctor works for YOU - tell him what you wish and unless there is a good answer coming get something that works!
