Neuro Feedback and Mountain DewI tried the Mt. Dew thing and it made both my kids more hyper. I tried to soothe rebounding and it didn't help that either. Thanks for the report on neurofeedback- very interesting. First, we have almost completed the biofeedback classes at the Drake Institute. I promised I would report back to all of you when we started 5 months ago. First of all, just to recap, my son is 7 and was diagnosed as moderatley hyperactive, mildly inattentive. He is very bright, but could not sit still in the classroom. The typical # of sessions is 30. After about 25 sesions, I noticed a very small level of improvement in the hyperactivity, but nothing to write home about. They changed the part of brain they were focusing on, and in the 5 sessions after that, I noticed more improvement than I had the entire time. We are almost complete with our 40 sessions (We opted for 10 more since it took so long to get the hyperactivity under conrol)and I have to ssay...I am very pleased. Since School has started up, I have seen a great amount of progress. According to his teacher, he doesn't fidget, lean back in his chair, or break pencils anymore. His handwriting is actually NEAT, and I am not seeing the careless errors anymore. Although he still gets warnings about once a week for talking, and is still impulsive, he is 100X better. So was the $5000 price worth it? I think so. My only frustration was/is the lack of organization in the front office. Wondering if anyone else has any experiences to share??? MOUNTAIN DEW....whoever mentioned the Mountain Dew thing was right on! We did a week test where we gave him one small can before school and one small can at lunch for one week. The caffiene definitely helped my son mellow and focus. Good Call! I don't need it so much now that neurological feedback sessions are complete, but it worked like a charm! sorry i am new to this board, so you are saying that mountain dew helps. my son is adhd and odd and i dont let him have caffiene. if mt dew helps with this i will start giving it to him as he really likes itI NEVER before would let my son have caffeine, and also always went very light with sugar. Someone on the site mentioned that Mountain Dew worked great. After that posting, so many wrote to agree that I figured it was worth a shot. We did the week test and were totally amazed. I don't know how it would work with other factors, but my ADHD son even says it makes him "think" better. Good luck. Try the test and let us know. i will...thanks for the tip what does the weekly test consist of. warren....i have given my son mt dew when he is beyond control and it works. i even asked his dr about it and she said that it will either work or not. but not too give too much if on his meds. well he dont need it when on his meds, but it helps on the weekends. she also said one of her friends is adhd and he drinks 8 mt dews a day so he dont need to take meds. it helps him sleep at night as well. and to tell you the truth i have drinken mt dew all day and even in the middle of the night and never realized it helped me relax also. thank you sooooo much., for the info. The only thing that bothers me about the Mt. Dew is it's basically a "stimulant," which is just treating symptoms (although good results would prompt me to keep it up for a while), and after a while, even a caffeine fix will need to be increased to be effective (just like all these medications). Drinking 8 Mt. Dews a day as mentioned above.......... . Sorry. I think Mt. Dew is gross. My ADHD son loves it, though. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem more focused after having one. the mountain dew thing still surprises me but I guess w/caffiene being a stimulant it makes sense, my son wont drink anything fizzy (SID), so we have yet to try it. However I too would like more info on the nuero feedback if anyone knows alink that might be helpful please post. My son is also 7, is AD H D and we are looking for new options. Thanks for the info.

Drinking 8 Mt. Lillian- was the cost about the same for you guy? (5K- ouch) |
