METADATE CD 10MG | ADHD Information

My son was on Adderall first and it was horrible.  He didn't want to eat and definite coming down symptoms around 3:30. Metadate Cd 10mg for a fiveyear old 48 lbs. has worked great. No side effects that I can see. eats well, sleeps well, no crying, and is happy!  good luck.  I'm a new member. great sitehi my 51 lb., 8 yr. old has been on metadate cd for about a yr. we started at 10mg, and are now at 20mg. No noticable side effects- only loss of appetite- he'll eat breakfast and a huge dinner- not alot at lunch- besides that no moodiness, sleeps great- good luck!!

My 5 year old son is on his third day of metadate cd 10mg. He seems to have gotten worse. He has been extremly hyper. His doctor says to give it some time and he may level out. Has anyone else had this problem? He is really having a hard time at school.

Please let me kow your thoughts. I am very concerned.

My son has not had this problem.  He has been on Metadate CD now for 3 days with great results!    We were actually able to get alot of schoolwork done today and alot faster than normal.    (I homeschool.)

my psych dr will test my two year old shortly but said there are only certain meds she will start him on and not til he is three....he is worse than what my 6 year old was b4 he was on meds....

and she is specialized in adhd and add, and i trust her decision, she is one that ups meds very slowly which i also like about her.

My 6 year old has been on Metadate for 10 months now.  He hasn't had any side effects except for a faster heartbeat which doesn't concern the doctor because it is not too high.  My son has Aspergers with a lot of ADHD issues and the Metadate has really help for the past 10 months.  However, now that my son is in full day class now, the Metadate doesn't seem to be carrying him through the day.  He is losing it after 2 pm and doesn't get out of school until 3:30 pm. The Metadate is one of the longer acting stimulants but lately it seems to only work for my son for about 6 hours.  I think we are going to try him on a stimulant that lasts a shorter period of time and just have him take a pill during school.  But until now, we have been happy with the Metadate.  I hope this helps you.  Good Luck with the new meds.

As I am still learning about all this - ADHD/Apergers - but is it normal to start meds on a 3 year old.  I don't see how they could know for sure what your child's true dx is.  Just asking.

 My son has just been put on Metadate CD 20mg today. My son is 7 90lbs. I am a liilte nervous, but hopeful! Please keep us in prayer and we will do the same!My 7 year old 53 pound son was on adderral xr for about 1 year.  On november 15, they switched him to the Medatate CD 20 mg because he hadn't gained any weight during that time.  He had absolutely no side effects other than that.  I must admit, I like the Medatate CD because it has really helped him focus, his grades are up, he's reading much better and he's not latargic in the evening and he's eating.  My only concern right now is that in the past week or so, he has developed "chest pains" as he calls them every so many days.  I don't know if this has to do with the medication or not.  His doctor doesn't think so though.  I hope it is not because it does seem to be working really well.

thanks for your reply.  When your son comes to you and says his chest hurts doesn't your heart drop.  It kills me when I see my son twisting his body from the ticks he gets.  I have never heard of medatate CD.  I'm going to check it out with my pharmacist, and I'll get on line.  I guess with all the meds we have already been through I'm so afraid of another med.  My son is 11 and weighs 60 pds. I feel like I'm harming my sons body by all of these narcotic drugs.

How did your son get diagnosed ADD or ADHD?  I question weather Cole is because all of the meds give him some type of reaction.  Even though they work at helping him focus.

 

I was surfing the web and found a website with Dr called Dr Weathers.  It has sparked my interest.  It is and alternative to meds.  From what I've briefly read it works on behavioral stuff.  Check it out and let me know what you think.

He has a book called ADHD: A path to success Dr. Lawrence Weathers.

Go to the website and read the letters from the parents who have gone through his therapy.  That's where I was really taken aback.  They are some pretty powerful testimonials.

 

My son was diagosed thorugh his regular doctor but we are going to psy. for further testing.  Yes, my heart aches for him every day.  I keep telling my self, what if i'm doing more harm than good in the long run, but deep down I don't think i am.  i think it will help him more in the future if we treat him now.  He is finally succeeding in school and has friends, but it still hurts that we have to treat him.

My son is 5 and he was on the aderall and he had alot of side effects. He begins the metadate cd tomorrow. I hope it works for him too.

This "bump" thing is kind of fun...

What is the update in your son? 

I noticed w/mine that the 20mg has begun to run out after about 5 hrs.  6 hrs top.  I need it to last longer than that.  The dr. increased to 30mg.  Way TOO much for him.  He was tired all day and miserable.  Zombie!!!  Tomorrow I am going to give him the 20mg and if need be give him half (10mg) later in the pm.  He told me that he felt awful.  No smiling, no happiness, no nothing.  I felt so sorry and started to feel guilty.  We are also going to our state fair in the am. and there is NO way I will have him like a zombie when he is suppose to be having fun.
