Paying attention during meeting at work | ADHD Information

Oh yes!!!!!

We had a four hour meeting at work a few months ago and i was spinning in my chair after awhile and couldnt sit still,. And then I was standing up and just spinning my chair around. And talking to my coworkers and making them laugh. Someone told me to chill out- someone on admin that day. And i was watching everything around me.  And then I was drawing when he was talking. There was about 70 other people  on the floor that day and maybe about 30 who work in the same company who are suspected ADHDrs so they had their hands full that day dealing with them as well!  It wasnt as obvious for me since it is a sales floor and for that reason too. Nevertheless ADMin got me on something as well eventually.

And then, I just basically got the short end scoop from another coworker of what was said. I didnt have to talk in that one, so it was all good there. :)  I copied her notes since I couldnt pay attention in the meeting. Its always good to have someone like that at work as a back up.

They did away with morning meetings and long meetings soon after that meeting though. And we were all being told to "make sales!" in laymens terms practically by a yelling and red faced man and some other stuff he said that i dont even know for four hours.

I cannot sit still. I change my position 20 times in one meeting...  Some ways to cope: I print out interesting articles to read in a meeting where I don't have to contribute that much or write down things to follow up on etc. Alternatively sometimes you can play on a PDA if no one sits next to you.

 

We had a mandatory meeting today at work. It ran longer than expected. My legs were so fidgety through out the entire thing. But, on the good side there were donuts being servered. Does anyone else get ansy during long meetings like these? I suffer through several long meetings a week. Now I take a notebook with me and use that time to make my grocery list, to-do list, etc. Everyone thinks I'm so into the meeting that I'm taking notes. haha - suckers!i'm banned from meetings... i'm too distruptive and distract others too much ..
boredom + dismal topic and speakers = chaos!!
