Thanks..  Yea im alert.  and i guess im kinda more open.. I dont get that nervous around ppl.. Its wierd like i said..

I was just wondering how am i supposed to feel while im taking it.. Started taking 18 mg   yesterday.. I feel a little wierd but, dont know how im supposed to feel?

If it bothers you, there is not harm in calling the Dr. and talk with him or his nurse about your reaction.

I also started on 18mg. Got a strange headrush ( I am not accustomed to medications - I hardly ever get sick.) But then I had a great first day.. after about the 3rd day, I didnt feel any different at all just alert, with a lot less anxiety...

If it is just something your curious about rather than bothersome, I would just give my body a few days to adjust and go from there. Hope this helps a bit.

I've been on 72 mg Concerta for three years. I believe it helps with focus issues but other than that, I haven't noticed anything else that is different. My wife however, says I seem to be a bit more "serious" than I used to be.

When I started taking Concerta my sleep improved dramatically. Also, about an hour after I take it, I feel the rush as it begins to take hold in my body.

My plan is to discontinue when I graduate from college next Spring. While the focus may have improved, I don't believe there has been enough improvement to warrant continuing the drug.

How are you supposed to feel?  Much like pretty much anything concerning us with ADHD that fits into that lovely gray "it depends on the individual".  Some snap to attention right away - becoming almost hyperfocused on events and people and becoming outwardly social and just like a different person. Other's its so subtle that you have to be told by friends and coworkers that they notice a difference but can't put a finger on it.

It can be gradual.  Importantly as the manufacturer suggests make sure you get regular appointments with your MD and preferably a qualified psychologist or psychiatrist.  A good talk with someone qualified can help you a great deal in learning new and useful coping mechanisms to supercede the old sloppy ones we all have.

Also read the paperwork that comes with the meds!! So many of us (me too) tend to throw out the box, papers and all when we get something new.  The side effects that can be harmful will be clearly spelled out in the papers in the box - so please please read it!!  If any of the serious side effects show up be sure to call your MD as soon as you can.  It's SO important.

Also remember that if your present meds either seem ineffective or have way too many side effects that you should consult your physician ASAP to either change your dosage or your meds altogether.  There are a lot to choose from and you should be willing to check a few out!

Good luck and I hope you find success with one of them like I did!
