Hi all,
Since I was not able to take medicine, I tried ADD Coaching for awhile. I had a couple of problems with it. One, it is done by telephone unless there is a coach close enough to where you live. Since this type of coaching is not very prevalent, there usually isn't. Two, it's very expensive. The cheapest coach I talked to was 175 dollars for one 30-minute session a month. Three, the sessions aren't frequent enough. Things come up a lot and talking to someone on the phone once or twice a month isn't enough.

cheekydeeky38157.8024074074I was wondering about how effective coaching was for someone on a job, but for that price and for only a 30 minute conversation, it doesn't seem like nearly enough assistance to help someone get on track. I have ADHD and have been diagnosed for 8 years and cannot seem to manage juggling my life at home and a career. I returned to a career that I had done for 8 1/4 years prior and returned to it after trying to teach Special Education for a little over 5 years. I am being treated like an idiot, and wanted to check into ADHD job coaching to keep me on track since accommodations have been imposed on me that are very ineffective. However, it doesn't seem like this. coaching, would be a solution either since the cost seems exhorbital for a short 30 minute conversation. It is unfortunate, because I work for a state agency that helps people with disabilities get jobs. I thought returning to a profession sensitive to the accommodation needs of people with disabilities would understand how to accommodate someone with ADHD, but unfortunately I was sadly mistaken. Well, I don't know that I addressed your frustration, other than acknowleging the furstration of not getting the assitance needed to be successful, when you know under the right circumstances, you could shine and really show what you could do!
Damn for 5 a session I'd skip the coach and just get a real therapist< ="">
for 5 a session MAYBE I SHOULD BECOME A COACH!!!!
That's too bad you had such a negative experience with ADD coaching. There are some great coaches out there who also have a lot lower rates than 5 per session.
