ADHD Medications | ADHD Information

My son has been on Concerta for almost a year. He takes 54mg and he is only 8 yrs. old. When he gets homr from school the medication has worn off. This did not bother too much before now, but he has more homework and he would like to play sports and take tae-kwondo lessons but he can't because he is unable to concentrate. Has anyone else experieced this? If so what was the treatment plan? Please help! I have considered Strattera because I have heard it lasts 24 hours, but I have also heard that if the stimulant works that Strattera will not work.  HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Ask your son's doctor about an afternoon dose of fast-acting medication .... like regular Ritalin which lasts only a few hours & might not interfere with sleep?

  Concerta works great for me..it gets me hyped in the day (I have inattentive ADD)..just enough to make me motivated, and when it 'Wears Off', I have no problems sleeping but I don't crash, the only side effect I've experienced is complete loss of appetite..I lost a lot of weight since being on it for 8 weeks or so..(I went from 27MG to recently 54..) but it does the job for me.Hello, I have a son who is 9 years old and takes Strattera 60mg once a day, at night and it seems to be working for him. He finally does his homework without being asked, and isn't hyper anymore.
