Auntie, no way did they lip sing. I think they just had such polished performances, and they were so well-rehearsed it may have just given you that impression. The performances were extraordinary.

As for comparing JD to Michael Hutchence......it can't be done, can it? No way! No WAY!!!! I loved MH. Despite the fact that he was obviously REALLY into women and a little haphazzard the way he went about a relationship, he had such a soulful, gentle spirit about him that just shined through. He could write a beautiful song, too...........and that VOICE! He was quite the unique talent. For some reason, as the competition got farther along, I became so focused on who was right for the band music-wise and not who I just liked personally. Every time JD got up on stage the last three or four weeks I just started thinking as much as I hate to say it, HE'S what the band needs musically and performance-wise. I will go see them when they tour. AND did you hear them suggest to Marty that he be the opening act? Woo HOOOOOOOO!

BTW, I found a very interesting official website on Michael Hutchence. It's headed up by family, and there's an entire book you can read on line written by his sister, Tina. The first part you read is pretty gut-wrenching, an account of the day they found out he was gone. If you're interested, here it is. I have to admit that I think that they made the right choice. I htink that JD just fit better with them. Marty is an awesome performer .. but he just doesn't exude that sex appeal (at least not for me) .. I always thought that JD was sexy and sexual .. it shows in the way that he sings and I just think that it works. So .. even though I didn't really like JD .. I DO think he is right for INXS AND I think he will grow into it. What a great show and I am so happy that Marty gets to tour too.

inxs would of remained immortal if they try to replace michael.. the new guy, jd, has no sex appeal, neither did the other guy..

I love Marty, but I never saw him replacing Michael Hutchence. JD, for the last month, has made me see him as a VERY smooth transition. Okay, so I'm a bit obsessed, and I adored Michael Hutchence. I was annoyed by JD's attitude, but he has improved in that, and he's just so right for their music. I will probably become a groupie now. LOL!!!!!

I only watched the last 3 shows and only part of the 2nd. So my opinion was decided basically by the first show I watched. Regardless, none of them even came close to Michael Hutchence as far as I'm concerned -talent or looks.

Just wondering, did it look like the first 3 songs were prerecorded and they each lip sync'd them. I'm almost positive they did but I could be wrong.

JD wins! He sang the HELL out of his songs tonight! I hope he keeps his head on straight. Looks like Marty will be going on their world tour, too, at some point. I will go to that concert for SURE!
