important Question | ADHD Information

Hi, it isn't a disability in the way you would regard a child with deafness etc but if it is a condition which affects her learning obviously she will be entitled to some help. I am a primary teacher who has recently had a girl with ADHD join and she definately needs a bit extra than the other children. I am sure if you talk to the school they will be willing to listen to your opinions and advise - the parents of my new girl come in almost everyday to catch up and it is really helping the child to settle in.

Yes & No....she can qualify for different things, but it has to impact certain areas of her learning.  Not sure what state your in so I can't be that specific.  But, there is Section 504 which she might qualify for.  But, like I said she has to have an offical diagnoses by the school or a professional.

Hope that helps>>>>

ADHD isn't listed as a distinct disability but it is covered under the area called "Other Health Impaired".

There are some really good articles on ADHD, OHI and what can be done to get the schools to do something positive at www.schwablearning.org.
