I think maybe he's burping because of the sound that he hears and
thinks it's funny. and he's just being a kid and doing weird kid stuff.
I wouldn't worry to much about it. Hey at least he's not farting a lot
and liking that.
i never knew my sons burped in school until i asked them and they said yes, but the teacher didnt like it nor did she tell me....i asked why and they said cuz it makes all the kids laugh. i think it is one of the gross stages!!!LOL my son is 7 ADHD, and can burp almost the whole alphabet, he thinks its really something!!! Hopefully for your child its just a gross stage that they're going through, and not a medical problem. My son says they do this after lunch at recess!!! Poor teacher!!!!!

OMG! My 12 year old burps after he drinks (soda, water OJ,) It doesn't matter he said he can't help it. We all know better!

Thanks for the info.....
My son is burping around meal time ...not sure if he is doing this at school have not heard for the teacher. I am going to keep an eye on it over the weekend and see if he stops...if not I will take him in for a check up
is he doing it without drinking something first...i just fond out why my six year old is doing it all the time...he learned to chug milk, juice, water, or whatever and thinks it is hillarious.. and the kids at school taught him how to do it without drinking anything, i think he is doing it to fit in which may be the case.
ask him if when he does it if he gets spit up in his mouth cuz then it could be acid reflex.
i think it is just that time when all kids do it. my nine year old started this all of a sudden at age 5.
boys will be boys
Is the burping occurring all the time -- at school and at home? Or is it just behavior you're seeing at home? If it's all the time, it could be a vocal tic (exacerbated by stimulants) and you should definitely check in with your son's doctor. Or if it's happening all the time and causing him pain in the upper abdomen, it could be from esophageal reflux, which does affect children, not just adults. (I know because my 10-year-old daughter has it.) If it's just at home, it could be attention-getting behavior. It's hard to know from your post, but if you have any concerns at all, talk to the doctor.
I would ask him calmly why he's doing it. Then I'd go from there. If he says he can't stop, I'd call the doctor ASAP. My 6 year old son just started burping quite a bit...we are not sure if this is on purpose or if something is wrong. I am wondering if some of his medication might be the cause. We just starte Ritalin LA about a week ago. I know boys like to burp on purpose but I think he is getting excessive. Anyone have any ideas????????
