Tenex | ADHD Information
My 9-year-old daughter was prescribed Tenex for her tics
(possibly tourette's). She also has ADHD. Initially the Tenex
calmed the tics down, but it didn't eliminate them, and then they
started to come back a bit. As a side effect, my daughter got
very sleepy and sluggish in school, and had trouble falling
asleep at night. She also lost her spark of enthusiasm, which
one of her best qualitites, so we are weaning her off it. The
neurologist thought we should try Rispordall next, but I don't
want to. I hear it's an anti-psychotic, and highly toxic. My
daughter isn't that severe a case to warrant such medicines.
Do any of you have experiences with Tenex, Rispordall, or
medications for Tourette's and ADHD?
Thanks. My son's doc wants to try the tenex in addition to the concerta because he still has problems keeping his hands to himself and staying still. is she on any of the stimulants? I also would be very wary of Risperdal. I am a pharmacist and I cringe every time I dispense this to kids. It can have some major side effects, like taking the bounce out of tigger, and I would only use it as a last resort.
