ritalin and tingling face... | ADHD Information

Share

My mom gets that every time she takes 5 mg Dexedrine in the morning. She said she likes the tingling lips effect because she knows the drug's working.

thank you all so much - after several days things are starting to ease up, the body definately needed time to adjust..

as for cold hands and feet - my dr did mention that tingling of the hands and feet can occur, or a sleepiness feeling in them. i find sometimes that can feel the same as 'cold' but i'm not really sure..

does anyone know if cold hands and feet could be a ritalin symptom?

I would phone your MD at your earliest chance.  Twitches can be a sign of Tourette's syndrome - a disorder that amphetamines can bring out if it's a subtle version.  Tourettes causes uncontrollable twitches and, in some cases verbal bursts of words that you can't hold back.  Does your family have a history of Tourettes that you know of?

Not saying it is - but this twitch should be looked at I think as they would want to change your meds if it is to avoid giving you an advanced version of it.

The warm face is typical - your body is pumping more blood while on ritalin so your face is getting more too.  It goes away.

I'm sure it's nothing - but it's always best to get a doctor's advice to make sure your health stays fine.

hey guys,

so i just started out on ritalin and am noticing some tingling around my mouth along with a bit of a nose twitch... is this an indication of too large of a dose or just the body getting used to it...?

i don't really think i want to be *more* twitchy on the drugs than i already am off..

thank you

dosages are things you might want to consider.
Also give it a couple three days for your body/brain to
figure out what is going on.All the stims can result in those side effects, but it is usually not a direct result of the drug. All stims are bronchodialators to some extent and increased oxygen in the blood results in the tingling. In other words, it's a result of very very mild hyperventilation. That effect, by the way, is potentiated by caffeine.
