my son has been on concerta 36mg for about a year and it seemed to not be working every day, so his doctor switched his med's to ritlin, that really did not work so when i took him back in she said we could try putting him back on the concerta but i need to remember every day is not going to be a great day his normal boy and will get into things and just because he takes his adhd med's does not mean he will not get into stuff... so i have to remind myself of that. but he has been back on the concerta for 2 weeks now and seems to be doing better than he was when she changed him to ritlinhey,
i was wondering if anybody has been on concerta xl 36mg and whether it started to not work after some time, or does it continue to work efficiently even on long-term use?
please reply soon
My son has been on the 56 mg since June. I noticed some improvement at first, but as time has gone by, and school back in, things have gotten worse. Last time at the doctors, he said he could give him an additional 18 mg or was contemplating adding another drug, Risperidone. We go back next week to see him, so I am eagar to see what he suggests (and scared at the same time)My son was up to 74mg. He's nine and weighs maybe at most 60lbs. He's a very tiny build, as is my whole family. Anyway, it worked for about 2-3 weeks. Then it was back to square one. He's on concerta now still... 36mg along with clonidine three times a day. Sometimes we have good days, but we still have alot of terrible days. And when the concerta wears off, its worse than without meds, he steals everything, has no impulse control, eats everything in the house and is so angry all the time. I'm begining to think nothing works. But, every child is different and hopefully you will have better luck than we have. We're running out of meds to try so now im looking into seeing a neurologist.
