I have been taking concerta for around the same time as yourself now and have really noticed the benefits. I was taking ritalin before hand for a while but found it hard get the dose right. I much prefer the concerta as its easier for me to remember to take 1 in the morning and thats it until the next morning... with the ritalin I would forget to take doses later on in the day and found that I was having real low points when a tab wore off. With the concerta I feel its more steady and don't have the added stress of remembering to take tabs at certain times of the day!!
These are the only meds I have tried for my adhd so I can't comment on the others but can say for me personally concerta is working so far. My self esteem has improved and I think that I am handling situations alot better that I previously would have crumbled or gave up on! Also my concentration has improved and have been able to study for uni more than before.. even some of my notes are organised and in folders instead of in a big pile on the floor!!!!

Hi all. I've been reading here for a long time and been an occasional poster. I've been taking concerta for 6 weeks now. I've heard a lot of talk about Strattera and Adderall, what is the advantage/disadvantage between these meds? Does any one here take Concerta? I look forward to hearing more about this med.
I started with Concerta and it worked very well. It was a time-realease capsule and it kept me energetic and focused most of the day.
My doctor tells me that for most people, they will eventually require more as time goes on. He said that other patients will require more and after 2-3 years may just go off it for a month, them start over with the small dosage again. I think it is a pretty well known drug.
But I have some propensity toward substance abuse and I was building a tolerance for it very quickly. So he switched me to Straterra.
So far it seems to work well. But others on this board have had bad side effects with it.
I find Conercta is working well for me. At first I could feel when the drug kicked in and especially when it wore off. Now its more even and much more tolerable. I'm able to listen to people more and am definitely able to complete tasks. I'm taking 36 mg in the morning and it feels like it works all day and into the night, but I sleep with no problem. My sister takes Adderall, she takes them in the morning and at 3 PM. No wonder she can't sleep! I once took my Concerta at 11:AM and it was pretty hard to sleep that night but other than that it has worked great.
EltonBrand38167.5157986111I dont get the highs and lows with Concerta. Ritalin caused me to have mood swings. Concerta is more stable to me.
