my doc says she faxed it to the pharmacy (the other one) I am starting to think this doc is nuts. the pharmacy does not have it. It would be easier to buy it on the street I am thinking( tho I would never consider it)
Dixiepeep38169.5551388889Dixie, Is there any way you can pick the prescription up at the dr's office? I had that happen the other day and by the time I got it and got back to the pharmacy, they had found it! Rather than hope they find it or that the dr didn't get the wrong address on it, like the wrong pharmacy or whatever, it would be faster and more reliable to just go get it. Barb
She told me to call her back in the morning. I am going to ask if I can go by there and pick it up. I think I will mail order it. Everyone says that mail order is easier.
If you are living anywhere in the US, I don't think they allow refills on any of the stimulants. Since I started taking the meds, I've had to go back to my doctor each month and get a written prescription. The stimulants are what are called Schedule II prescription drugs, because they can be used recreationally.
Because of these rules, they require you to show an ID, and won't honor any refills. It does sound like the pharmacy is being extra difficult in this case, but the ID and no refill policy should be everywhere.
However, I would never in any circumstance give out your SS#. When I get my prescription filled, I show my ID and they take down my drivers liscense number. They don't need your SS# to id you.
The doc told me yesterday she would fax my new prescription to another pharmacy and she still has not done it. I have zero patience these days. Thanks so much for letting me vent. I think I will try again late this afternoon. Dixiepeep38169.4730787037Dixie, I would deffiently not go to the same drug store. The same thing happened to me with refills. I was told about 6mos. ago that a refill wouldn't be filled because no refills can be used on a written or called in script. My doc started to give me 3 mos. of scripts for my adderall. If thats the case, they should tell you.
I wish you the best of luck! I've been through hassles with drug stores before. Our Winn Dixie dosen't have a pharmacy, but Publix does. They're the worst!

Giving Your Number To OthersIf a business or other enterprise asks you for your Social Security number, you can refuse to give it to them. However, that may mean doing without the purchase or service for which your number was requested. For example, utility companies and other services ask for your Social Security number, but do not need it; they can do a credit check or identify their customers by alternative means.
Giving your number is voluntary even when you are asked for the number directly. If requested, you should ask:
why your number is needed; how your number will be used; what happens if you refuse; and what law requires you to give your number. The answers to these questions can help you decide if you want to give your Social Security number. The decision is yours.
Our primary message is this--be careful with your Social Security number and your card to prevent their misuse.
If you think someone is misusing your number, ask us for the leaflet, When Someone Misuses Your Number (Publication No. 05-10064).
I did something and can't get this to line up!
Dixie, you don't have to give them your social security number but you may not get the meds without it. This is from the Soc. Sec. Admin. and gives a list of questions you should ask them before you had it over. Maybe they will give up when you ask which law requires it!
I appreciate all of your advice and especially the S>S> information. I did not think I looked suspious but being ADD I tend to be impatient and walk around the store when I get prescriptions filled. Maybe she thought I was nervous. I was just looking around because I have the three small children so I dont get to stores to look at make-up and hair supplies very much. I thought I had my University Staff I.D. on. I wear decent clothes and I am clean. I was offended. I have used the pharmacy since I got married in 1987 off and on. She had me write my S.S. number on the insurance file where everyone could see it. I did not feel comfortable about that at all. I should have refused. I want to make sure that I don't get the doctor in trouble so I will talk to her today to see if she can make it right. I did find Advance RX and I will definately have it filled online but I am totally out now so I dont know what I will do for the rest of the week. I guess I can stop taking it? It won't hurt anything to stop suddenly will it? I will ask doc about that too. Thanks again everyone for listening and offering advice.
Here in New Jersey, refills are not allowed on Concerta.
If refills are allowed in your state (are you in Alabama?), they should not give you a problem with it.
Concerta and Ritalin are sold on the black market. so maybe they are being extra careful Or maybe someone working in the pharmacy may be dtaking your refills and selling them! It has happened.
If you think something shady is going on, you may want to contact the state board of Pharmacy.
yes i totally agree with barb.
YOU SHOULD BE UP IN ARMS ABOUT TREATMENT LIKE THAT. i would be so close to suing for discrimination ...
did you have any type of suspicious behavior for them to warrant such an ardous process and invasive requirement of your social security number?
would they have done that to you for birth control pills?
although i understand that these are substances that are at risk for abuse. i also do believe that this is very serious. they should only do those type of things if there is very good cause. at least that is my opinionated and indignant opinion. i'll be indignant for you!
i would definitely boycott that pharmacy..hopefully this is not the only one where you live and you have other options.
maybe you can switch to a mail order service. if you have insurance, i am finding that many offer mail order programs for our daily prescriptions. i actually use advance rx for my adderall (three months supply in the mail!!! SO IDEAL for us adhd'ers. less refill hassles..plus it comes right into our laps..soo cool)
if you can do that it is totally worth it.
i would certainly mention to them emphaticaly that their shoddy record keeping is not your problem. to justify your veracity...they should be doing that as it is a position as a pharmacy to be utmost careful with our medication information!!!
aiyah!
sumi
thanks Nightstar. I called the doctors office and it makes me look bad cause her records show that I had five refills so I have to proove to them that I did not have it filled, I told them to call the woman that gave me such a hard time at Winn Dixie. Hope to get it resolved tomorrow.
Dixie, isn't this the same drug store which gave you a hard time the last time you filled your prescription? Now you have five refills and they are saying you have none. Something isn't right. Either they keep lousy records or someone has filled your prescriptions. I would report them in a heart beat! You have even given them all kinds of id which could be copied and possibly used elsewhere. Call me paranoid (and I hope I am), but when something smells rotten in the world today, its better to assume the worst when it could be potentially harmful.
I was given my prescription from my doc for Concerta and Ritalin but my pharmacy treated me like a thug when I had it filled. They called the doc. I had to show I.D. write down my social security number. I waited an hour. My doc gave me a refill but the drugstore says I dont have one. I am so mad. I finally am diagnosed but I cant get the medicine. I am 39 years old. This is B.S. in original form!!!How about this, you go back to the doctors office and have them give you a written perscription. And on top of that go to a different store all together to fill the perscription.
Sorry to hear that, you are having so much trouble, but I would take my business else where and later on file a complaint with the headquarters for the other store on your treatment you received there.
I called the doc office this morning and the secretary said that the doc has to write the script and I have to pick it up BUT she does not know if the doc will come in at all today (friday), I am so mad. I have been calling since MONDAY/
