Do you take meds? | ADHD Information

Share
I take meds, and do benefit from their effects. However, there are some meds have slide effects I have to take other meds for. E.g. Effexor raised bp, so now I'm taking Indural. Ritalin, only on overdose do I notice a bad side effect. Ambien, is a much needed med, or I don't sleep. However, if I try to resist it's effects, I do begin hallucinating, which is kind of enjoyable. I do control my meds, and tend to underdose more than overdose. i hate the side effects but i try not to take them unless i seriously need
them, so it all works out in the end!

i didnt vote as i totally agree with wordwoman.....it seems this poll is a little biased or you are having problems with your meds or are one that doesnt believe in them?  am i wrong or did i misinturpret?

Worldwoman

I put "I take meds and I love them"  or something like that in the poll, but it didn't show up when I posted it.   I guess I wrote too many responses.  Sorry

How about I take them and I think they're great?

ditto... well, I'm not fond of the side affects but they are doable.... and sometimes entertaining, LOL

I was wondering how everyone feels about medication.  So, here is a poll for you or I guess it is for me and other curious ADHD and ADD people.

Thanks!

I take meds and it has improved my quality of life!Wife takes thyrid meds and vitamins that it. She felt meds for concentration help her very little.i met (purely by luck) a therapist last night.  hahaha well i am in LA so not that hard in fact.... every other person pretty much is either an actor or a therapist.  but he is going to advise me, on some natural alternatives.

give me a new diet, some supplements and some exercises (the best thing of all - this is all for free as he is a friend of a friend) to start with.  i will let you know if i notice any improvement.  i already bought some magnesium and omega three capsules so we'll see.

.....then i'll vote in the poll.

i am sorry i misinterpreted you.....i am one of those that believe that if one dont work, there is always something out there and i guess i take it a little to heart.

SORRY!!!

The only reason I'm not on any meds is because I now have heart problems (due to a negligent oncologist but that's another story) and they're contraindicated. However, a friend who is ADD takes Stratera and says its made a world of difference for him.

Remember girl - that even natural remedies have their bad side.  Magnesium can be dangerous if taking too much - it becomes a source of metal poisining!  Omega 3 - there's good things so far but it's new so don't hold it up as the end-all and be-all.  They are finding things like anti-oxidants can actually cause illnesses in cells - jury is out on that one.  And that atkins diet?  They now find that it can cause headaches, extreme irritability and eventually more weight gain!! Dr. Atkins was obese when he died that should have told us something.

It's good to look for natural ways to help ourselves for sure.  Just be sure not to end up one of those people who thinks if it isn't labeled "natural" that it's not good.  Cyanide is all-natural, you can find it in the desert as a natural element - but I wouldn't recommend taking any!  It's all moderation right?

Good to get exercise though - that always adds to health as long as it's not become an obsession.

Keep us posted on how you do!
