Reality Shows and ADHDand is stumping for Adderall! See http://www.adderall.com/ty I don't know why this is freaking me out. Maybe it's because I used to take Adderall, and it helped a bit. But I've been taking stimulants for about a decade, and still, I can barely clean up the kitchen. Even thinking about an extreme makeover for a house makes me feel anxious. Where would one begin? How about in the kitchen? Oh yes, there are cookies in the kitchen! Yumm! I think I'll get one... but wait, maybe I should check my email first. Hmmm... there's my prescription bottle on top of the computer. Looks like I need a refill. I think I'll call the doctor for an appointment. Damn, where is my cell phone? It's probably upstairs... uh oh, the stairs need vacuuming. I really should vacuum someday... I don't think anybody's going to watch that TV show. Oh wait, Ty Pennington is probably just a TV host type guy. And he probably doesn't know a thing about making over homes -- he's reading a script! Hey, I could do that too. Whew. I feel better about myself. :-) It is funny I am reading this this AM. I just sent Ty and email yesterday and asked him to be our National Spokesperson for a project called: Development of a International Electronic Campaign to promote the Advantages of Hiring AADDers. I take Adderall RX and it is working for me so far. I'm 46, ADD all my life. Hope you decide to help: We need a Media Campaign that talks about the advantages of hiring AADDers . I need your help on this project to build a website exclusively for AADDer (Adults with ADD) and put only positive info on it about the Advantages of hiring ADDers. Hopefully, if we all tell someone about it, we can get it done without anyone having to donate a lot of time. Seeing Ty's energy level sure fits with ADHD. He's also a terrific example of how to make it work for rather than against you. Remember that one of the side-effects is creativity and the ability to hyperfocus. I think that for many of us it's a matter of learning how to manage and channel those abilities to enhance rather than detract from our life. I'd be surprised if he also hasn't learned how to create a team to support those things he sucks at. Any smart leader does this but I suspect it's even more important for us AD(H)D folks to learn how to do. It really does take a village to make things happen and part of growth is learning to take advantage of each person's strengths and talents. But then, life would be awfully boring if there weren't constant challenges to have to learn how to overcome. |
