Exclusive Adult ADD website | ADHD Information
We need a Media Campaign that talks about the advantages of hiring AADDers . I need your help on this project to build a website exclusively for AADDer (Adults with ADD) and put only positive info on it about the Advantages of hiring ADDers. Hopefully, if we all tell someone about it, we can get it done without anyone having to donate a lot of time.
Mostly, you will just need to mention it to someone like your therapist, pharmacist, prinicipal, employer, college, etc. If each of them buy-in and support spreading the news on their websites that AADDers are advantageous employees to hire, then maybe more people will be more patience, support us (and our kids) having to go to the doctor and getting back late because we left our employee badge in the dr. off and had to go back to get it or not put us on probation or fire us.
It took 46 yrs for me to believe I am a vaulable employee and when I get another job, I am going to prove it. Send me a PM and tell me your story and why you want to help. Thanx for listening, obviously I got carried away. Forgive me, its my ADD! Hey, I'm new to this website, but I am so glad I found it! I am 21 years old and recently diagnosed with adhd. My mother also has it I know, but she keeps putting off going to talk to anyone that can give her a proper diagnosis. I know I'm still a young adult, but I am frustrated that I was overlooked in school. My teachers always said I was not motivated, immature, or lazy. I am by NO means lazy, people just don't understand that we adhders have crazy energy! we just don't know how to focus it properly. besides that, there are so many people out there who don't know they have it that engage in these dangerous activities just like i did. there are also so many ignorant people who ask me "oh you have adhd? I thought that went away." well it doesn't go away at any age and more people need to be educated about this disorder! it makes me so mad! that's why i think you have a fantastic idea and i would love to help!
angels - Welcome!
firstly - you seem very mature for being only 21. I was self-serving and very unfocused then. Amazing I got through university - but it seemed easy to me and I rushed my way through. I hate tests LOL.
Sadly - you'll meet many people out there suffering from AIS (Adult Ignorance Syndrome). It's characterized by being insensitve, quick to judge and inclined to prejudge. That's something you'll eventually learn to live with - all of us ADHDers do to some degree.
If you are lucky you'll find as you go along some fine teachers and employers who see beyond your difficulties and see the inspired, creative person within. I was lucky to find more than my share - and it made the ADHD more bearable - even though I had no idea I had it.
Be aware you're lucky to have found out about your condition when you did. I was 38 - and most here found out from their 30s up. Much easier to deal with it now that there's good medication, qualified therapists and you haven't had the time to deal out the damage we have LOL. Seriously - there's all the time in the world for you!
So wonderful that you want to give back!! Very admirable!
I hope to see you post often - give us your special point of view - we all will be glad to find out how life and work is for you!
