Adderall XR Part 2Good for your son. It is great when it works and s-cks whenit doesn't. Enjoy it while you can. I don't like to be the doomsayer but the one thing that is finally sinking in after dealing with an ADHD son for 10 years is that the only thing you can depend on is change!.
Good luck, Charna I don't want to burst your bubble but be careful. My son was on that drug last year. It was great for about 6 months or so. Then all the side effects started.Watch for these in particular--headaches, dizziness, loss of appetite, mood swings, insomnia, stomach aches. If any of these start occuring, take him off the drug. It means it is not a good fit for him. My son was almost 7 at the time and he was only on 5 mg. which is the lowest dose. He still had bad side effects. The headaches were so bad he would actually throw up. I won't ever put him on something like that again. I am glad it is going so well. We had a very similiar experience with my SD when she started the Adderal XR. We haven't had any side effects other than a mild decrease in appetite. Hello Everyone, My son has been on Adderal XR for 2 days now, it is going well. Actually great! I dont' want to get used to this OKness....is that weird? I mean I want to enjoy this time, but I need to keep my wits about me don't I? All I can say is that for the first time since my son's career in Elementary school, he has gotten A's and B's on his report Card. I am so happy for him, he is happy for himself. I see how he is changing again. I'm scared friends.......... My feelings need to hold onto the part that says, keep your guard up. Has anyone else felt this way? Mother of 9yr Old
