MODAFINIL & ADHD | ADHD Information

Thank you for the information - I have seen through other postings that the facial tics are not all that uncommon (which concerns me a little more). I did let her doctor know about it at her last appointment and he said to let him know at her next visit (monthly) if it was still a problem (since she says she's doing it "on purpose"). I will definitely tell him that it's still ongoing, but it's still hard for me to tell if she's really doing it on purpose or not. She's gone through a lot of nervous habits - throat clearing, tapping, coughing, sort of rolling her eyes, clicking her tongue, etc. All of those were prior to the medication. My daughter has been part of an ADHD clinical study with modafinil since March 2004. So far the changes have been dramatic, and the side effects are minimal (goes to bed an hour later). Sometimes I wonder if it's beginning to lose it's effectiveness though, and she has recently developed a facial tic - not sure if it's a nervous habit (she always has one, and when I point it out she usually changes the habit, but this has lasted a couple of weeks). Facial tics are one of the side effects of many ADHD drugs. She may need to lessen the dose or change the medication completely. It's not something you should let go.Has anyone heard about the use of Modafinil for ADHD?
