BMAN..Coming from a ex-pharmacy tech Adderall XR is a time release drug that works all day and its funny everyone says 20mgs doesn't work but maybe 10 hrs. Plain Adderall releases its componets within a 3 hr period for the day. You r dealing with a highly addictive drug..Work the dosage out with your Dr. I take 2 20mgs. in the morning and a sleeping pill at 9:00pm so I can go to bed and sleep by 1:00am.Maybe it'll work for you..Good Luck

Yep, that's normal. Takes anywhere from a half-hour to an hour to kick in. 30 of non time release is getting TWICE as much at once as 30 of timeYou need to e-mail: User name Shakespeare, he is more than qualified to help you answer this.
Ok, I was on adderallXR 30mg for 8 months. I stopped XR because i never can get into any kind of sleep routine in college and usually dont get up before 1. This being said, i changed to regular release. I wanted to see what 20mg in the morning would do, and then a 10mg if needed at night. ( Basically 30 mg for all day.)
The 20mg just didn't seem to work. I figure maybe because im used to the 30XR all day everyday. So after the 3rd day of the med not working, and many study hours spent not studying, I uped my dose to 30 in the morning. This helped me much more and i felt that i have been acomplishing my work. Plus it wears off much earlier then the XR. What is the comparison to 30mgXR and 30 MG regular????
XR uses a double pulse bead system. Half the dose is absorbed immediately the other half 4 hours later. 30mg XR is the same as 15mg twice daily, 4 hours apart. Duration of action lasts anywhere from 7-12 hours, depending upon individual metabolism.
u r absolutely right on!!!! its good to have u on board with all the info u have...
4 weeks ago I switched from 60 mg of Adderall 2x/day to 30 mg of Adderall XR . I take 30 XR in the morning and can go until 5 the next morning, sleep till 7:30 and do it again. by the 4th night I am able to sleep. (that was a total digression--FOCUS) I miss the initial jolt that the reg adderall gave me. my wake up call, allowing me clarity, motivation, and the wonderful abilty to concentrate. With XR, I have a slow, easy going change in thinking , absorbing, knowing where to begin--i literally sit at this computer with many important, growing-into-urgent-things to do literally without a clue on how to prioritize.
