Ween off Adderall?I dont want to be on Adderall during the summer so, this being said: How long does it take to ween ( or however u spell ween) somone of 40mg? (30 in the AM 10 in thePM after about a year & 1/2?) morning (but I might lose my keys) but at about 1 pm i HAVE to take a nap. Maybe 2 hours. I let the kids watch TV. It takes a week if I go off for a long period of time. It doesn't hurt, but I can only lose so many cell phones before I get back on. I and gone off and back on and off. I have felt sleepy if I missed a day, but it seems if I just went straight off, there was nothing that bothered me. I would ask your doctor to be safe. It sounds to me like you could wean yourself off extremely slowly, but still be prepared. There are those who say it leaves your system "immediately", but it seems like it would have to build up after being in your system after taking it successively for a duration.Adderall doesn't build up in your system like antidepressants, so withdrawel is not a long, drawn out process. Your brain and body do, however, become accustomed to increased levels of norepinephrine and dopamine, and the body usually has to readjust when a stimulant is discontinued. Tapering off may help, but it really is not necessary. At prescribed doses, these drugs usually don't cause much in the way of dependence. Generally, discontinuation includes a few days of lethargy and amotivation, as well as, occasionally, feelings of apathy. The biggest problem is the harsh return of the symptoms you were medicating to begin with! Whomever said it lasted 2 days is on pretty solid ground... that's about the average. It doesn't last long, and in my experience with going off and then on and then off and then on Adderall, withdrawel was never as big a deal as the rare times when I have tried to give up coffee... now that's rough! I am someone who has gone off it several times. Now I'm taking 20mg in AM and 10 in PM. If I stop, I'm usually tired for about 2 days. Sometimes I can't even function b/c I'm so tired (the first day). So I wouldn't plan on accomplishing a ton for about 2 days. |
