Hello Annafox,
I was dx with ADD about 3 weeks ago and put on Adderal xr (amphetemine salts). After the 1st two weeks on the medication I had to see the doctor again to discuss how it was working and any side affects I observed. I noticed the lack of appetite while taking it too. My doctor also said that loss of appetite is a very common side affect and this drug has actually been prescribed to patients for weight loss specifically. My only advice for you, is to plan ahead. Try eating before you take your medication and after it wears off try eating then as well. You can also try taking meal replacements while your on the medication and not feeling hungry. If your weight loss persists, despite your attempts to eat and supplement, you should get advice from your doctor.
I'm in the same boat as you. I have been working out and trying to gain weight, but Adderall works against me in that respect. This is what I have scheduled for myself. I wake up and I eat a meal before work. I take the Adderall after my meal. I take a small lunch with me to work, (beef jerky, chicken, soup) knowing that I won't have much of an appetite. I have also been packing some protein drinks, called Boost. It's not a replacement for a real meal, but it's better than nothing! When I get home I usually eat again before going to sleep. So far, I haven't lost any weight... but it's still early for me. In my opinion, planning ahead is key with this medication. I hope that helps? BEST OF LUCK 2 YOU!
Daniel
