I am a newbie on this site and just want to know who else is out there with ADHD and does it help anyone with ADHD. I was born with it and now at 49 my meds are finally working. Growing up it was never recognized. I hope this site help so that I can relate with other people who have ADHD

I'm only 30 years old and was just diagnosed with it 4 or 5 months ago. I knew I had it for years, but shrugged it off for many reasons (Mainly because the thought of meds scared me), but since I've been diagnosed three times (I needed to be absolutely positive) and have been treated for it, my life has really improved a whole lot! Now I think back and think how much of the things I missed out on when I could have been dealing with this effectively as soon as I recognized that I might have ADD (Years ago)..I basically concluded I robbed myself of many great things having put off my diagnosis/treatment.Thanks to all who replied. I am effexor xr works wonderful. I always knew I wasn't alone with ADHD I am 49 and always knew I had it. Glad that I found this site to chat with people who understand. People that do not have it have no clue what we go through. I was always on and off again of meds thinking I was better but not the case.
WELCOME
Welcome debster!
Wow - you'll find this place REALLY helps when you have ADHD. You find you are so not alone - and that's a big thing for most of us. We are a lonely lot.
I'm 38 and one year into ADHD relief. Been on dexedrine for the year and it's been awesome to have control. You'll find that it gets better as you go along.
Get yourself into a good therapist along with your meds. It's important to get new ways to cope to replace the old ones. I can't emphasize it enough.
Hope to hear from you often!
