One homework solutionBecause we have struggled with homework since my 12-year-old son was in kindergarten -- and 7th grade was no exception -- his new doc suggested he stay after school in a supervised study hall to get his work done (his school allows kids to stay in the library from dismissal at 2:30 pm to 4 pm). My son grumbled about it, but we told him today he was staying. When I picked him this afternoon, I expected a sour face and a bad mood. Instead, he greeted me with a smile and said, "Mom, this really works!" He added that he got most of his work done because there was nothing else distracting him. Success is sweet! We had it when my son was in 3rd grade and I loved it. It got homework out of the way so we could have family time and peace in the house. They stopped doing it and I would love it if they would start it up again. After school time at our school is a charge $3.00 a day. This is the fee. They don't always have them do hw either. |
