Adderall XR potential for abuse? | ADHD Information
I'm a 20 year old male that untill recently was not formally diagnosed with ADD despite the early warning signs throughout my childhood. At this point in my life i've gone through drug addiction which i've beaten but now i've just started adderal XR 20MG once a day. Once a day is what the doctor told me but the first day I picked up my prescription I worked an 11 hour shift with no difficulty in a very physical job. I took my first dose at approx. 5 P.M because I work 3rd shift. After initially feeling the first hint of the drugs effect I was instantly overjoyed but it just didn't seem like the effect I was looking for. I then took several more which wound up being 10 by 9:30 a.m. the next morning. I'm confident that I can get this problem under control because the positive effects of Adderal XR are life changing for me however it does scare me at times that I may be picking up another addiction. My plan is to continue the rest of the month taking normal dosage on my workdays only and if I am able to successfully make it through the month with no more problems then I will continue taking the medication but in the possible event of another mistake, saddly I know I will have to stop taking it. I suppose only time will tell now.
In my amateur opinion, you need to stop this drug immediately, you are already addicted to it. Adderall has a very high potential for drug abuse. It is a schedule II narcotic and has the potential for addiction. Does your doctor know about your past addiction?
