helpI'm sorry to hear of your situation. Medications can make your son more agitated and angry. This is a side effect of stimulants. It is a good idea to notice when these situations occur. Is it when the medicine is beginning to wear off rebound. Is it at the peak of the medicine. Does he tend to become angry when you tell him no or is it when he is to stimulated or frustrated with something? Has he just started to become aggressive or was he aggressive and destructive before the stimulants? This site has been extremely helpful and I'm sure others will have more feedback for you. It a good idea to keep a daily log of med vs side effects or emotional outbursts etc... How has he been since he is off of the medicine? If you notice a change for the better that would be a good indicator of a side effect of the medicine. What type of Dr. is treating your child? Did they consider any mood or anxiety in his diagnosis? As you can see it is hard to sometimes speak intelligently when much needs to be filled in. I"ll try to get back to if you have more information. Take Care Stimulant medications will only cause a state of agitation or anger if the dose is too high, too low, the child doesnt respond well to that particular stimulant medication or there is more going on than ADHD which is called cormorbidy. Many children diagnosed with ADHD also have bipolar disorder in which case, stimulant drugs would exsacerbate or agitate bipolar disorder. If the child is strictly ADHD and is taking the right stimulant med at the right dose, anger is not a side effect of the medication. Has your child been diagnosed with any other disorders besides ADHD? If not, I strongly recommend that you have him reassessed as what you describe in terms of behavior is not symptomatic of ADHD. If you could provide more information, that would be very helpful :)hello everyone today is my first post due in fact to just finding this fourm. ok here goes .
