weght loss on meds | ADHD Information

My 10 yr. old son is on Concerta 36mg. His appetite is awful. Lost 10 lbs. in just a couple of months. He is currently off the med. for summer. Any suggestions to keep weight on once med. is re-started?My daughter lost weight on Concerta. She was looking sickly and didn't eat well at all. After several months (maybe as many as 6 months), she started eating better and looks healthier, although she is still thin. She is a teenager, so some weight loss could be attributed to her age, but the doctor says she is not underweight. Maybe it takes time for one's body to get used to the meds.

 

Thanks for the suggestion. My pediatrician wants us to go to a dietician but the cost is outrageous and not covered by my insurance. My son eats like crazy right now, too. He has gained 7 lbs. in 3 weeks. Hopefully it will stay that way when he starts the meds. again.  Thanks again.

Hi my ten year old is on 54mg of concerta, he only weighs lbs., and gets his meds all during the summer because of his extended school, his appetite varies from day to day, i don't force him to eat because he's really not hungry, but when he is off the meds he eats me out  of the house. I don't know if their is any way to keep the weight on, once the meds. start up again,  maybe you can try lots of frappes.
