thank you love my kids 02!!

i will give it the full 6 weeks ...

I agree that your probems could be stemming from elsewhere and I would recommend that you get a second opinion from a doctor that specializes in the field of diagnosing disorders. As far as Straterra, it takes up to 6 weeks to become fully effective as it has a ramp effect. Hope this helps. Luvmykids0238175.4687384259

Thanks for writing ......

You know i have never felt depressed...i have always beed a very happy person that loves life . I have a ferm believer in live is what you make it....About 4years ago i was telling my Dr. that i feel really funny about a week before my period. I told him a few things and he then gave me sarahfem for PMDD pre menstrual blah blah ,,,,anyway that has helped a lot , and the Dr . that said i have ADHD said that it will help a little  cuz some of the things in prozac are in this also but not really what you need, i guess i will try it for a few weeks and see what happens ... boy do i have dry mouth

I don't know if you need to worry. But your problems could be caused by things other than ADD. especially if you have only noticed the problems recently. Did they start around the time you went on the other meds?

Depression can produce many of the outward signs associated with ADD. It is tricky because dealing with ADD can cause depression so most ADDers deal with depression.

I know that when i took some of the online tests or read a copule of books about ADD, it was absolutely crystal clear to me. It is like I was reading my own life story.

good morning  eveyone .

Just a question . I was told by the Dr. last week that she thinks i have ADHD .....I started my Stattera today .(40mg)  for 4days then up to 60 mg.

I wonder if its just me or does anyone else feel that they don't have ADHD ....I never had a problem as a kid when it came time to sit for dinner or at night with the family it the tv room ....i hated school and didn't like to sit in class ..(isn't that every kid) and as an adult (i'm 28) I still have no problems at work hard time trying to foces at times but i think thats just the job , always a phone ringing or someone talking to me .. also on Sarahfem nicer way of saying prozac ..(helps with pms,  ).a little worried about taking this stuff too , cuz in the next 2 years i would like to start a family , and would like not to have anything in my system when trying to do so...

little worried about taking this stuff.....should i be?thank you so much for your "friendly advice "     I will make sure to go on line today and take a few of the tests.  Yes it is very sad to see a Dr. hand you a Rx and tell you try this one , see what happens , if that doesn't work we will give you somthing else ..i feel like a lab rat !  ...(p.s  2nd day on the 40mg.   i do have a very upset tummy and dry mouth also very sleepy!)

Isn't it sad that with the changing gestalt in medicine it is much easier to hand out prescription rather than be sure of the diagnosis?

Your symptoms don't scream ADHD to me. I too recommend getting tested, at least do the on-line tests. If your insurance covers it, I'd go to a good psychologist who specializes in adult adhd. Just remember though, caveat emptor. There are some psychologist who want to give you an 0 evaluation when you don't necessarily need it. Call around.

Disclaimer: I am not an MD and can only offer friendly advice, not diagnosis. (sorry for the disclaimer, in the medical field you have to watch everything you say.)

Hello welcome to the baord, you should check out some of the online tests that are about for ADD...

It really takes time and a lot of reading, I have up till this point, assumed I was Bi-Polar as my doctor years ago told me, but within the last week of reading, started to realize I did not match. And recently seen my doctor again to try to get meds to help me.

So definitely research what you can, and I agree with the others get a second opinion if you don't feel you to match up with ADD.

you guys are great!!  im so glad i jumped "on board"
