Differences between LAZY and HYPER ADD | ADHD Information

I would like to know the range of symptoms for people who have ADD, and what medications have and have not worked for them in the past.  Myself, I am the latter.  I am lazy, unmotivated, easy going, and constantly changing my mind.  Before trying Concerta at age 20, I lacked interest in almost everything.  I would get bored with just about every situation, except laying around changing the channels.  Since then I have pretty much turned my life around, became interested in school, and have set goals for myself.  I would like to know if there are others like me as well, because ADHD is stereotyped as being a disorder that only affects people who are "bouncing off the walls", I think there are many of us who are silently suffering as well.  Please share your experiences...

i believe that the type of adhd symptoms you are describing is usually termed "inattentive" there is the hyper, the inattentive and the combo. i know b/c i'm a combo! lol.

i have also read in the myriad of books about adhd sufferers having an issue with the 'inactivity' or basically an issue with starting up. so its harder for me and you to actually DO something

i can sit around and think about gee i need to do some ____<whatever it is...and oh i need to this and that. and not accomplish one single damn thing all day. when i stayed at home with my son it was a major issue. i was excellent at taking care of my son and i held him and attended to him as well as any mother would or could. but did i do my laundry? did i manage to plan dinner out for my family? it was a nightmare just deciding on recipes and making it to the grocery store in time to make dinner. that was a WHOLE DAY ordeal.

geez.

I am also the "Lazy" unable to get motivated type.  I have my official ADD testing on Monday July 12th.  Can't wait to get the diagnosis.  I am hoping for a result like yours PuffADDer.  Alas, I am already 47 and I don't think I'll be going to school.  But, just being able to get things done would make my life so much easier.  Glad to hear that your life plans are falling into place with the Concerta.  I have a son on Adderall XR, Strattera and Lexapro.

I don't care for the lazy term, but have the same problem myself, stall on getting starting projects, procrastinate and kill time on other projects just pushing the harder stuff off all the time.

Every day something is continually put off, get distracted easily, don't pay close enough attention on every day tasks to make mistakes easily.. always forgetting important things as well.

I can relate totally. Before meds; I was in "nuetral" and now; I am involved in an art project which so far I am 6 weeks into, with a probable expectancy of another month or so to go until it's complete. For the FIRST time in my life; I can totally commit to a project; and not get board with it. This is a total life change for me!
