It is during the day that I chew on my cheeks / now tounge, I have grinded my teeth during the day though, if I was stressed!
Have you been feeling aggitated or stressed out recently? Might need to go back to doctor let them know to counter this for you.
After I take my second dose of the med at noon, I notice I chew my cheeks and grind my teeth. I always have to chew gum or worse I SMOKE MORE THAN EVER NOW! Is this mormal????I am not on that medication, but I have always had this problem you talk about - grinding teeth (especially during sleep) and chewing on my cheeks. Recently got my upper teeth pulled, so I can't do that any more, but was sure painful when I ended up clenching my jaw closed at night!
What I did was go to the local sports store and asked for a mouth peice and you have to heat it to mold to the inside of your mouth over your upper or lower teeth. I tried this, with no luck myself, but it might help you. I eventually got use to not clenching my jaw, but now I chew on my tounge, so can't win for trying.
How long have you been on Adderall? I have the same side effect. I asked my doc about the smoking and he was surprized I was smoking MORE, because nicotine blocks the effect of Adderall ( I wish I could remember the receptor's name!) .
As for the teeth griding and cheek biting, I've always done it to a point , but now it is much more. One explanation was "withdraw" , another was the dose was too high. Either way, my teeth are killing me. Add that to dry mouth which weakens saliva and I'm looking at a hefty dental bill.
Take Care
Me too. I find I clench my jaw alot and before long it causes head and neck aches. I'm taking 15mgs of Adderall XR daily. It has helped calm me down from the normal everyday stresses; but seems to effect my jaw. Kinda strange. I pick at my nails worse than before too.
OMG! I play with my nails alot more too, AND cracking of my knuckles! LOL i don't THINK my dose is too high, because when I don't take the second dose, I don't feel focused or anything. I have only been on it for like 4 months and I am on 30 mgs a day...i JUST WENT TO THE DENTIST, AND GUESS WHAT? i DON'T GRIND MY teeth during the day, but at night. I have hairlline cracks in my front teeth, and i never had them befor adderall. He recomended a night guard, but at the cost of about0. no can do!
nightstar, i think i might the sports guard it would fit my budget much better.
I don't feel much jaw discomfort, but my hubby noticed one day that when i'm concentrating or hyper-focusing on something, i push my tongue into my teeth. he said it reminds him of a little kid "really getting into something" it gives me a sorta blister on the tip of my tongue. it hurts!
The smoking thing, i cant relate to, but if i diden't have asthma, it probably would. i was a heavy smoker until i was diagnosted.
